The Young and the Restless' Joshua Morrow and his son Crew Morrow are keeping it all in the CBS soap family, as The Bold and the Beautiful introduces a new-old character to its younger set. When Katie mentioned that her and Bill's son, Will, was away at school, fans knew what that meant. He would return as a young adult, ready to cause drama for his parents.
The younger Morrow makes his B&B debut as Will on the August 1 episode, and he promises Will's reunion with his father won't be pleasant.
"I remember trying to piece together the character before walking into the audition," Morrow told Soap Central's Dan J Kroll. "The things that initially jumped out to me was, 'Hey, this kid's got some swag, and he also has some daddy issues'...He's very proud, and he's also the only Spencer who grew up with that affluence, that wealth that Bill has. The other Spencer sons didn't exactly grow up with that, so there's definitely something to play with there, whether that's ego or arrogance, so a lot to play with."
Not only does Will have issues with his father, but he also has to contend with a brand-new sibling on the scene. While Will has been away, Bill learned that Luna Nozawa is his daughter (at least according to a DNA test that might not have been administered correctly). Bill almost immediately moved Luna and her mother, Poppy, into his mansion and started a brand-new life.
"It's definitely a touchy subject for old Willie Boy," Morrow explained. "I think we hit the ground running with that one. It's weird. Essentially, it's these strangers in his home. He's heard about them, but he's never seen them, he doesn't know anything about them. So, come on, his father suddenly has a whole new family?"
Morrow can't tell us much about his first scenes on B&B, but he does promise this: "It will be very soap-like. Let's just put it that way."
Morrow admits that he didn't always want to be an actor. In fact, as a young boy, the idea of it was foreign to him, from what he observed of the elder Morrow's job.
"I was always asked as a kid,' Do you want to go into the same industry as your dad?'" he said. "And I was like 'No, he kisses girls, gross, ewww."
All that changed when Morrow grew up and later saw what he described as a "powerful movie." That led him to making his own short films he'd post to YouTube and an eventual career in acting. Once he made up his mind that he wanted to be a performer, Morrow began auditioning for other soaps, and after several readings, he finally landed the role of B&B's Will, a character not seen since 2020 when Finnegan George played the part.
His dad also became his biggest supporter, something Morrow is eternally grateful for.
"I'm in this world because he helped me, and I wouldn't be where I am without him. I don't even need to say that, but I have to say it because it's the truth," he told Soap Central.
When the chance for his big soap break came, Joshua had some sound advice for his son after playing Y&R's Nick Newman for the last 30 years.
"He sat me down. It was a father talking to his son [and told me] it's an incredible world but it obviously comes with some drawbacks," Morrow relayed. "I think a big part of his advice was staying true to myself and believe in myself, even at times when others might not believe in you, the most important thing is to believe in yourself and what you are doing and finding your own truth."
