Ivens' Simone has been a back-burner character for much of her time in Pine Valley. It was that lack of air time that prompted Ivens to seriously consider walking away from All My Children last year when her first contract with the show was set to expire. Fearful that losing the popular actress would upset fans, network executives pitched Ivens a deal that enticed her into renewing her contract with the show. That new contract was to have included more prominent on-screen appearances for the actress.
That, of course, never materialized.
In the October 31st edition of Soap Opera Digest, All My Children's head writer, Megan McTavish, hinted that there would be a "a big thing happening with Simone" by the end of November. As fate would have it, it appears that Simone's big storyline will be the one that ushers her out of Pine Valley.
Ivens is just one in a series of high-profile exits at All My Children. In October, it was announced that Vincent Irizarry (David Hayward) was being cut from the cast. Last week, two-time Emmy winner Julia Barr (Brooke English) opted not to continue with the show.
Ivens will last air sometime in December. The role of Simone will not be recast.
