It's been thirteen years since All My Children fans have seen Tad and Dixie together. While Cady McClain made her way to the short-lived streamed version of the soap produced by Prospect Park, Michael E. Knight didn't join her, so their on-screen love story ended in 2011 when AMC's ABC run came to a close.
Since then, both McClain and Knight have appeared on other soaps, with Knight playing Dr. Simon Neville on The Young and the Restless and Martin Grey on General Hospital. McClain assumed the role of Rosanna Cabot on As the World Turns, brought Kelly Andrews to life on Y&R, and also temporarily took over the role of Jennifer Deveraux on Days of our Lives.
That doesn't mean McClain doesn't fondly remember those long-ago AMC days and the magic that she and Knight shared. Tad and Dixie first met in 1988, but a 1993 snap from paparazzi photographer Steven Bergman brought back memories for the actress, and she shared it on Instagram.
"Oh gosh... Steven just sent me this photo... from 1993... let's not talk about how long ago that was because WHAT IS TIME other than a slightly different footwear?" McClain wrote next to a photo of her and Knight mugging for the camera. "Michael, my dear friend, could often be the kindest and most humbly loving person. He and I just 'knew' something about each other and didn't need to go deep diving. We just knew it and played together like good sports. And it was a grand time. I'm grateful for every minute."
Knight, who has been recurring on GH since 2019, recently left the show temporarily, with the door open for his return. Some old AMC fans have been clamoring for McClain to join GH as either Dixie or a new character so she and Knight could recreate that magic. After all, her husband, Jon Lindstrom, has played Kevin Collins on the show since the 1990s, so it could be a family affair, right? Stranger casting things have happened!
