NBA star and ESPN host Jalen Rose has great taste in actresses, having chosen The Bold and the Beautiful's Anna Maria Horsford (Vivienne Avant) and Passions' Marla Gibbs (ex-Aunt Irma) to play his mother and grandmother, respectively, in his ABC comedy pilot, Jalen vs. Everybody.
From the team behind Fresh Off the Boat, the half-hour, single-camera show follows Rose as he juggles a career and being a full time dad. According to Deadline, Horsford's character, Moms, and Gibbs's character, Grammie, are "smart and meddlesome. Put together, they keep close tabs on Jalen's life and weigh in regularly, critiquing his ESPN shows and his personal life."
Though she plays a rather serious role on B&B, Horsford has a rich history in the comedy world. She has appeared on shows like The Wayans Bros. and the Sherman Hemsley comedy Amen.
Gibbs made a name for herself in the comedy world with her roles on The Jeffersons, which also starred the late Sherman Hemsley, and 227.
What do you think about the premise for Jalen vs. Everybody? Are you looking forward to seeing Horsford and Gibbs flex their comedy muscles together?
