The Bold and the Beautiful's Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan) has walked away from the concrete jungle of Los Angeles for an Australian jungle on the reality program I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
The actress reveals that after a very long negotiation process, she is finally competing on the series that follows a group of celebrities living together within a very wild Australian jungle camp without the usual comforts of home.
"We've been talking to the production for years now and it finally worked, with The Bold And The Beautiful letting me out for some time to go and do it," she tells TV Week, adding that the main reason she wanted to participate in such a grueling challenge is for the opportunity to win the grand prize, which is a large sum of money for the charity of the winner's choice.
Lang's chosen organization is Breakaway from Cancer, a charity that's close to her heart due to the death of her father as well as three of her grandparents to cancer.
"I never understood when my dad died," she says of losing her father when she was just thirteen years old. "It happened fast and we found out too late. There wasn't much we could do, but it seemed like nobody could do anything to help. That was really frustrating."
She continues: "[Breakaway is] really amazing. They do so much for the people that are struggling with cancer. They're very dear to my heart."
Lang's determination to help raise money for Breakaway from Cancer is fierce, given that the I'm a Celebrity challenge is no joke. In addition to physical tasks that usually involve snakes, spiders, or other creepy-crawlies found in the jungle, the contestants also have to avoid being voted out by viewers during their stay, with the final episode's votes nominating who wins a series and becomes "Jungle King/Queen."
Funny enough, the thing that scares Lang the most isn't living with the creepy-crawlies of the jungle or eating outrageous food items but rather being in such close quarters with the other celebrities.
"It's one of the things that frightens me. I like people -- but to a certain extent, you know?" the California native shares with 10 Daily, adding: "Being that close to people for a long time... it could be hard, I don't know. I'll have to get to know these people, be gracious and be part of the team!"

As for whether or not Lang will miss her B&B family while she's attempting to survive in the jungle, the actress has a surprising answer: "No! That sounds mean, but it's because we spend so much time together. [Laughs] Sometimes I feel like I spend more time with the cast than with my own family! It's good to have breaks from them. It'll be a sort of holiday."
At this time, it's unclear how long Lang will be away from B&B and whether or not viewers will see an on-screen absence. I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, which airs Sunday to Thursday at 7:30PM on ITV, is a four-week challenge, and Lang's first episode aired on Sunday, January 27.
