The lives of soap opera characters would be so much easier if they just talked about their problems, but that would make the drama so much less exciting for viewers to watch. However, the same can't be said for when the actors who play said characters talk about their problems. That is extremely interesting, as proven by a recent episode of the podcast Dear Family in which The Bold and the Beautiful star Rena Sofer (Quinn Fuller) opened up about some very deep personal issues.
The podcast -- which was created by the actress' friend, Rachel Steinman, and is about "complicated families and mental wellness" -- delves into some of the most traumatic experiences from Sofer's past, including the fact that her mother abandoned her when she was two years old and later got her stoned on drugs when she was just nine years old.
"If you want to know more about me than I've ever exposed to anyone publicly then please listen to her amazing show," Sofer shared on social media of her Dear Family episode. "I talk about many subjects only my close friends and family know about so be gentle, non-judgmental and enjoy!!!!"
According to the podcast's About Me page, Dear Family is about complicated families, parenting, and achieving mental health -- especially when mental illness runs in the family. Host Rachel Steinman is a writer, educator, and mental wellness advocate who guides her guests in an honest and open conversation to find community, healing, understanding, and compassion.
"Think of Dear Family as an intimate conversation you'd have when you confide in your sister or brother. Or better yet, with your best friend, who we all know is your chosen family anyway," says the podcast's website. "After all, we are only as sick as our secrets, so we might as well speak up."

Sofer got her start in daytime with the 1987 role of Joyce Abernathy on Another World. That role led to a 1988 to 1991 stint as Loving's Amelia 'Rocky' McKenzie, a 1993 to 1997 stint as General Hospital's Lois Cerullo, and her current role as B&B's Quinn Fuller, which she has been playing since 2013. Her additional credits include Covert Affairs, NCIS, Heroes, 24, Blind Justice, and Just Shoot Me!.
