The Bold and the Beautiful's Kim Matula (ex-Hope Logan) has been having a Virginia summer, as that's the filming location for her latest project, a coming-of-age comedy called Tapawingo.
The indie film, which also stars Billy Zane and Jon Heder, tells the story of a listless oddball who becomes the unlikely bodyguard for a misfit teenager and finds himself in the crosshairs of the town's family of bullies.
The details of Matula's role are unclear at this time, but director Dylan K. Narang gave Film Daily a tease of what viewers can expect stylistically from his upcoming film. The creative, whose most recent project was 2018's Soundwave, reveals that he looked to "a lot of Wes Anderson and Jared Hess movies" in his preparation for Tapawingo, specifically The Royal Tenenbaums, Napoleon Dynamite, Moonrise Kingdom, and Nacho Libre. He also shares that he turns to music as inspiration during filmmaking, and for Tapawingo, he's been "listening to a lot of 70s rock that I'd like to get for needle drops in the film."
Tapawingo began filming in Central Virginia earlier this June, but there is no release date information at this time. Keep checking back to Soap Central for updates as they come.
Kim Matula starred as B&B's Hope from 2010 to 2014 and made brief return appearances in 2015 and 2016. Her other credits include UnREAL, Teachers, LA to Vegas, 9-1-1: Lone Star, and The Sex Lives of College Girls.
