With only about 18 minutes a day to tell its tales, The Bold and the Beautiful has one of the smallest soap opera casts around, but that doesn't mean some past characters shouldn't make a comeback. The following five ladies are desperately needed to shake things up while also grounding some of the men on the canvas.
After being reintroduced in the form of Krista Allen with much fanfare in 2021, Taylor has disappeared from the L.A. scene. A popular character played by Hunter Tylo off and on from 1990 until 2019, nobody ever thought another actress would be accepted in the role, but Allen managed to make it her own.
Watching her go up against Brooke and then becoming Brooke's BFF was glorious and is a plot that never should have been dropped. If Taylor were to return from yet another medical conference, she could resume her friendship with Brooke or become her mortal enemy again. Either way, she would add some spice to Brooke and Ridge's currently boring and humdrum lives.
Since 2021, we have watched Zende romance three women with little success. Things didn't work out with Zoe Buckingham, we have no idea what happened with him and Paris Buckingham, and now he wants Luna Nozawa. The Luna story arc has taken a disturbing turn, but we still don't know why Zende is single in the first place.
His marriage to Nicole Avant ended off-screen, and we were given no reason at all. We only heard that "things" happened, but we don't know what those things are. If Nicole were to return to L.A., we could finally learn why she and Zende are no longer together, which would fill in the blanks for fans and also lead to a better story for Zende than the one he is currently in.
Not only does poor Zende seem lost in love and love stories, but he also seems like an island unto himself with no real allies around him. Yes, Eric sang his praises last week, but the family seemed to treat him like the ugly stepchild when Eric was sick, and professionally, he's been shoved aside for R.J.
If his mother, Kristen, were to return, she would be a rock for Zende but also a sibling that Ridge can contend with and another child for Eric to have around. Not seeing her or her sister Felicia when Eric was near death made no sense and really brought home the fact that the only one of Eric's kids permanently on the canvas is Ridge.
As far as we know, Maya is still living in Los Angeles with Brooke's granddaughter Lizzie. We just never see her. Like Zende, she returned from Europe to announce that her marriage to Rick was over, but like Zende's marriage to her sister Nicole, we never found out why it ended.
Before Maya was with Rick, she had a brief engagement to Carter Walton. Carter's relationship with Katie has been backburner and turned into a story that B&B doesn't seem to want to tell, so Maya could certainly spice things up -- and maybe eventually tell us why she's divorced.
If General Hospital is just going to keep Rena Sofer's Lois Cerullo confined to the Quartermaine mansion most of the time, then B&B could right its own wrong and bring her back as Quinn. It never made sense to write her off to begin with -- especially when she was in a hot romance with Carter.
Bringing back Quinn would add some spark back into the show, give Katie a run for her money for Carter, re-introduce another rival for Brooke to spar with, or create a triangle between Quinn, Eric, and Donna. The possibilities are endless if B&B wants to go there.
