When the February 23 episode of The Bold and the Beautiful ended, fans thought Sheila Carter would once again send Steffy to the ER, fighting for her life. After all, Sheila did say, "Steffy Forrester... tonight you die."
But by the end of the Monday, February 26, episode, Steffy had taken charge, and it was Sheila who appeared to be down for the count.
Unlike two years ago when Sheila shot Steffy and Finn point-blank in the chest, Steffy got the upper hand this time and stabbed Sheila with a butcher knife right in Steffy's own living room. After the shock of her actions wore off, Steffy stood there stunned as she watched Sheila gasp for air and seem to take her last breath.
Is this really the end of a soap opera era? Is Sheila really dead? According to Kimberlin Brown, she is saying goodbye to the character she's played on and off for more than three decades.
"Well, you know, it's a tough place for me to be in right now; I'm not going to lie about this," Brown told TV Insider. "I guess if anyone were going to take Sheila down, I'm happy it's Steffy. I just wish that no one was taking Sheila down. It's my happy place where I have been so blessed to be for over 35 years. But I've had a good run at it, so I'm one of the lucky ones, there's no doubt about it."
Jacqueline MacInnes Wood was also shocked by her character's actions, as she also cheered Steffy on.
"For Steffy, hallelujah! This is her moment. How long has it taken Steffy to take her down and it's finally happening, so it's going to be a big shock," Woods said. "For someone who used to watch the show, and to [now] go toe-to-toe against Sheila, that's a really cool moment."
So, while it looks like the end of an era for the crazy villain who began her reign of terror on both The Young and the Restless and B&B way back in 1990, it is worth noting that Sheila has been dead before. Before she made her way to Los Angeles to torture the Forrester and Logan clans, Sheila created havoc in Genoa City when she stole Lauren Fenmore's husband and child before being presumed dead the first time in a fire.
A very much alive Sheila turned up in Los Angeles and eventually married Eric while continuing her life as a psychotic and murderous menace.
Since this is a soap, where dead is rarely really dead (remember Finn's alleged death two years ago at Sheila's hands?), it remains to be seen whether Sheila will rise from the ashes. But for now, it looks like Steffy did what she felt she needed to do to keep her family safe. But did Steffy also kill her marriage in the process? Stay tuned to find out.
Just a few days before Sheila's stabbing, Kimberlin Brown was part of an online chat in which she talked about Sheila's future. You can read more about that here.
