In August of 2023, The Bold and the Beautiful alum Wayne Brady surprised the Hollywood world when he came out as pansexual. At the time, there were a lot of questions about what that really meant. At the time, Brady told PEOPLE that pansexual meant that he was "bisexual...with an open mind."
But when Brady hosted the 2024 GLADD Media Awards on March 14, he explained his sexuality more in-depth.
"I had to do research and find out what it was that I was," Brady said, according to PEOPLE. "I think the biggest misconception -- and I even make a joke about it onstage tonight -- is that people think that you're an indecisive bisexual. It's like, no, no, no, no, no. Let me set you straight."
"What the definition basically boils down to is, regardless of gender, regardless," he added. "So that means that I am happily free to fall in love with anybody here. If you're gay, if you're straight, if you're non-binary, trans, I don't care."
When Brady first came out publicly last August, he admitted that the first person he told was his ex-wife, Mandie Taketa, who told PEOPLE of Brady's confession, "I just said, 'Great.' As I knew coming out would help him be happier."
At the time, Brady gave a good reason for his decision to come out.
"I've told myself in the past, also, nobody needs to know my personal business. The world can absolutely go without knowing that Wayne identifies as pan," he said. "But that gave me license to still live in the shadows and to be secretive. What does that feel like to actually not be shameful, to not feel like, 'Oh, I can't be part of this conversation because I'm lying?' I had to break that behavior."
Brady has been known to daytime fans since 2009 when he began hosting a new version of the popular game show Let's Make a Deal. From 2018 to 2019, he played Reese Buckingham on The Bold and the Beautiful. As most fans know, Reese was the mastermind behind the baby Beth kidnapping that resulted in Hope believing her daughter died and Steffy inadvertently adopting the infant.
The Emmy-winning performer is slated to take on the title role in The Wiz during the production's Broadway engagement later this year.
