Days of our Lives will go ahead with its annual on-screen tree-decorating ceremony in the days ahead, but all that glitters won't end with another Horton family ornament. The celebration this year will continue past Christmas, with the star event being Tyler Christopher's first Salem airdate.
The actor, famous for his 20-year role as General Hospital's Nikolas Cassadine, took to social media to tease that his debut is just two weeks away.
"2 weeks until my first air date on #daysofourlives. What a great 4months it has been leading up. Such great group to be a part of," he wrote, which indicates that Thursday, December 28, will mark his debut.

Though DAYS' head writer, Ron Carlivati, has gone on record stating that Christopher will be playing a brand-new character, the mystery of exactly who the actor will play remains, with rumors still swirling that the Emmy winner could be taking over the role of E.J. DiMera (previously played by James Scott) or the role of Vivian's (Louise Sorel) nephew Nicholas.
Though he can't reveal who he'll be playing, Christopher teased fans with a "sneak peek" of his Salem character -- that's actually his newly released personal DOOLMoji icon! (For more on the updated and new DAYS emojis, read this.)

In all seriousness, Christopher says that he's thrilled to be a part of the NBC soap and loves how much trust the powers that be put in his hands when he began working on his character.
"They just trusted me to create this guy, which is great. I mean, that's every actor's dream, to be able to be trusted that much," he said back in September. "I gave myself a little history lesson on everybody, made sure I asked plenty of questions, like, 'Okay, who are the Kiriakises? What's going on there? Who are the DiMeras? Okay, who are you related to? Do you like each other? Do you hate each other? Do you love each other? Is it a little bit of both?' That's important for me to know, because the fans would go, 'Oh, my gosh, he would never be nice to her after what she did to him!'"
