Before Sal Stowers landed the role of Days of our Lives' Lani Price, she had actually already tried to win a place in Salem several times before. And she credits the show's casting director, Marnie Saitta, for helping her finally nail the audition that won her the role of Abe's daughter.
"I had been in to read for Marnie a couple of times and it was one of those things where I would have a great read with her, but I wasn't always fully there," the actress tells Soap Central of her early auditions for other DAYS roles. "I remember one time, she said, ‘I see you! And I'm really rooting for you. But you've got to go there; you've got to not be afraid to really go there.'"
Therefore, when the audition for Lani came up, Stowers knew she had to bring her A-game. And luckily, Saitta was encouraging once more.
"I remember when the audition came around for Lani, Marnie was like, ‘You can do this. This can be yours. You just have to put in the work,'" the actress recalls. "So I went through the whole process from the first read to the call back to the producer to testing. And she was just so wonderful and kept me calm. I remember she told me, ‘When you get nervous, do some pushups. Get down there and do pushups, because it will take the nerves away!' She just has a presence about her that makes you feel very warm inside and supported. I will never forget that whole audition process. It was amazing."
