News was announced yesterday that General Hospital alum John Stamos (ex-Blackie Parrish) is producing a drama series that chronicles the extravagance of 1980s soap operas, and many daytime fans couldn't help but notice some similarities between the untitled project and Kimberly McCullough's (Robin Scorpio Drake) project titled Heyday.
Stamos' series is said to be inspired by his early days on GH and will "explore the colorful and often dark world of soaps as it follows the journey of a young man thrust into soap stardom, during a decade defined by Reaganomics, greed, excess, indulgence and materialism. As a newly minted teen idol, he will struggle to balance his family life, working at his fathers restaurant and maintain his humble upbringing while navigating the temptations of sex, drugs and fame."
Meanwhile, McCullough's project -- which she's been working on since 2014 -- is a loosely autobiographical pilot set behind the scenes of a GH-like soap that follows a cocaine-loving former ballerina turned soap star.
Fans of the actress immediately began tweeting about Stamos' project and Heyday sounding uncomfortably similar, prompting McCullough to respond.
"I guess I should be flattered?" she wrote, followed by, "Like my momma always says... 'That's show biz.'"

At this time, Stamos hasn't responded to the daytime fan-driven controversy surrounding his 80s soap series, which is currently in early development.
However, several soap stars have commented on the projects' similarities.
Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas Cassadine), who took part in a reading of McCullough's Hey Day, tweeted, "Let's get #heyday trending. @whitewatercrew put her whole life into this story. U want a series that tells the truth? #Heyday"

The Young and the Restless' Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott; ex-Patrick Drake, GH), who also took part in a reading of Hey Day, responded to the news of Stamos; project with the tweet, "Oh you mean @whitewatercrew's #HeyDay? Little too familiar if you ask me..."
