The casting changes continue at Guiding Light. Soap Central has learned that yet another performer will soon be let go. It's an unofficial tabulation, but Soap Central has counted no less than five forced departures -- call them firings, if you'd prefer -- at Guiding Light since the beginning of the year.
Jessica Jimenez (Catalina Quesada) will exit the show this spring. Catalina's farewell will come as the culmination of a "big story." The exit is storyline dictated.
The news of Jimenez's firing comes just a matter of weeks after the announced departure of Wesley A. Ramsey (Sam Spencer) and the downgrading of Susan Pratt (Claire Ramsey) from contract to recurring status. It also follows the decision to end the show's San Cristobel storyline, which required the writing out of three performers.
Jimenez's role on Guiding Light was her very first professional acting gig. The actress landed the part just four months after graduating high school. She made her on-air debut on October 23, 2000.
A Guiding Light spokesperson had not comment on the reports of Jimenez's release, explaining that they "do not comment on rumors."
No final airdate is yet available. The role will not be recast.
