One Life to Live alum Nathan Fillion (ex-Joey Buchanan) was no doubt crushed when his longtime ABC series, Castle, was canceled earlier this year. But the actor has already landed on his feet, having been cast on the network's popular sitcom Modern Family.
Following his eight-season run playing Richard Castle, Fillion has signed on for a multi-episode arc for the comedy series, co-creator Steve Levitan announced during last week's Television Critics Association (TCA) summer press tour. He'll be playing the role of a weatherman named (wait for it) Rainer Shine.
The Canadian native, who hung his hat in Llanview from 1994 to 1997, will join Martin Short for his Modern Family run, which will begin after the sitcom returns to ABC on Wednesday, September 21.
