One Life to Live alum Renée Elise Goldsberry (ex-Evangeline Williamson) has just landed a role that might make some fans emit some holy exclamations.
The Tony Award-winning actress will be taking on the role of Catholic church attorney Renee Harris in the upcoming CBS drama Evil, which centers on the battle between science and religion.
Written and executive produced by the The Good Wife's Robert and Michelle King, Evil follows a skeptical female clinical psychologist who joins a priest-in-training and a blue-collar contractor as they investigate supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and other extraordinary occurrences to see if there's a scientific explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work.
Goldsberry's Renee is said to be a dynamic, hard-driving lawyer who has a past connection with one of the show's characters. She will be appearing for a multi-episode arc.
Goldsberry got her start in shows like Ally and Ally McBeal before landing the role of OLTL's Evangeline, which she played from 1999 to 2007. The actress hit the big time when she originated the role of Angelica Schuyler in the Broadway musical Hamilton, for which she won a Tony Award in 2016. Goldsberry will next be seen on the big screen this November with a role in Trey Edward Shults' Waves, which costars Sterling K. Brown, Lucas Hedges, Kelvin Harrison Jr., and Taylor Russell.
