Former One Life to Live actor Scott Evans (ex-Oliver Fish) just keeps hitting it out of the park when it comes to his post-daytime roles. Following his OLTL "Kish" romance with Llanview character Kyle (Brett Claywell), the actor has gone on to appear in shows like Daytime Divas and Grace and Frankie. Now he's starring in the LGBTQ comedy Sell By, which is currently in theaters.
Described as an ensemble comedy about romance in the smartphone era, Sell By follows the failing relationship between Adam (Evans) and Marklin (Augustus Prew).
Said Evans on KTLA 5, "People look at rom-coms as kind of one thing, and it's not really that. It's sort of like the more messy parts of relationships. It starts out with them at their five-year mark of their relationship, and it's kind of like, well, what do you do? Do you fish or cut bait? Do you stay in it or get out? What's the next move? [It's about couples who] suffer from these very real problems instead of the happy stuff that you see in the movies or the love stuff. This is the nitty-gritty."
But don't feel as if you have to be part of the LGBTQ community to enjoy Sell By, which also stars Michelle Buteau, Zoe Chao, Patricia Clarkson, Chris Henry Coffey, John Doman, Colin Donnell, Christopher Gray, and more. Evans says the film is relatable to just about anybody.
"I don't think there's somebody out there who wouldn't be able to relate to somebody in this movie," he says. "You can see yourself in every character, whether you're male, female, gay, straight, whatever."
Though newsworthy in its own right, Sell By recently made major headlines due to the surprise appearance of Hollywood star Chris Evans, who just happens to be Scott Evans' brother.
Says Scott to US Weekly, "It was funny because I've gone to so many premieres and things for him and he's never really been in town or not working where he's been able to come to mine. And I just randomly was like, 'Oh, will you be able to make it to New York for this?' And he was like, 'Sure! Yeah!' I was like, 'Oh really? You're coming!'"
