One Life to Live fans will definitely want to tune in to season three of The Rookie. In addition to boasting current series star Nathan Fillion (ex-Joey Buchanan), the police dram-com will be featuring OLTL alum Brandon Routh (ex-Seth Anderson).
Routh has taken on the role of Doug Stanton for a potential season-long arc that begins in the second episode of the upcoming season, which is set to premiere on January 3, 2021. Deadline reports that he has for sure signed on for four episodes with the possibility of an extension.
The Rookie follows Fillion as John Nolan, who, in the pilot episode, became the oldest rookie at the Los Angeles Police Department when he signed onto the force in his 40s. Routh's character, Doug Stanton, is an eleven-year veteran of the LAPD, "whose views prove to be polarizing at the Mid-Wilshire station."
In addition to Fillion, The Rookie stars Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Mercedes Mason, Melissa O'Neil, Afton Williamson, Mekia Cox, and Eric Winter (ex-Rex Brady, Days of our Lives).
Routh joined the cast of OLTL in May 2001 but was recast shortly after, in April of 2002, with Steve Richard Harris stepping into the role. His year on OLTL was followed by roles on Chuck, Partners, Chosen, Vixen, The Flash, Arrow, DC Legends of Tomorrow, and Crisis on Infinite Earths.
