The nominations for the 25th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were
announced on March 11th. To the surprise of OLTL's faithful viewers, the
show received only one nomination this year, for Outstanding Technical
Direction/Electronic Camera/Video Control for a Daytime Series. The show is
up against All My Children, Guiding Light, and The Young and the Restless
for the award. OLTL received the fewest nominations of any of the eleven
daytime dramas currently on the air.
On Monday, May 11th, the Technical Daytime Emmy Awards were held and OLTL lost to The Young and the Restless for Outstanding Technical Direction/Electronic Camera/Video Control.
The only bright spot for OLTL fans during the entire Emmy broadcast on Friday, May 15th was when Hillary B. Smith(Nora) and Robert S. Woods(Bo), both former Emmy winners, presented the award for Outstanding Writing in a Daytime Drama to the writing team of All My Children. Hillary B. Smith looked stunning in a long red dress and Robert S. Woods took time before presenting the award to make a short speech regarding Michael Zaslow. "Our friend Michael Zaslow is leading a battle to find a cure for ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease. God bless you Zas, we pray that you do and we love you." They both wore blue and white striped ribbons to show their support.
The blue pin-stripped lapel ribbons can be obtained from the ALSA National Office. Up to five ribbons are free of charge. Larger quantities may be purchased. To order ribbons, contact Hope Manna via FAX at (818)340-2060, or email: [email protected]
