Darius McCrary (Malcolm Winters) celebrates his one-year anniversary with The Young and the Restless later this month, but the actor may not be in the mood to celebrate the occasion. The actor has been hit with a temporary restraining order by his ex-wife, who alleges abuse by McCrary. For his part, the Y&R star counters that his wife made up the allegations because she is upset over their divorce.
In papers filed last week in Los Angeles, author, adult entertainment star, and former video vixen Karrine Steffans, claimed that McCrary had been physically violent to her on two separate occasions. In the suit, Steffans says that in February, McCrary "choked me from behind and beat me with a belt" in front of her 12-year-old son. The second incident, in which Steffan states that she was also choked, took place in November. The latter incident allegedly happened in front of witnesses at a Los Angeles hotel.
According to celebrity gossip site, TMZ.com, Steffans is asking to have a restraining order against McCrary made permanent. A hearing is scheduled in Los Angeles this week.
McCrary, meanwhile, has fired back, stating that his ex-wife "didn't take the finality of the divorce well and has resorted to her old tricks of public defamation."
McCrary told TMZ that "in no way does he condone anyone resorting to violence against another human being to solve a problem."
Known as Eddie Winslow on the 1990s sitcom Family Matters, McCrary joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in December 2009, taking over the role from Shemar Moore.
