As first reported by Soap Central in August, Emmy-nominated actress Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) will be returning to The Young and the Restless later this month for several episodes. Though those scenes have yet to air, Davidson is already back taping additional episodes set to air later this fall.
"Worked with Eileen Davidson today," Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) shared on Twitter. "It felt like old times! She's great to work with!"
The short engagement marks a homecoming for Davidson, who made her first appearance as Ashley in 1982. In 2007, Davidson crossed over to Y&R's sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful, where she played Ashley for six months before returning to The Young and the Restless. In May 2012, Davidson announced on social media that she'd been unexpectedly let go from Y&R.
Fortunately, a short time later, Days of our Lives reached out to Davidson and asked her to reprise her role as Kristen Blake. However, in July 2013, Davidson revealed that she'd be exiting DAYS.
Davidson has expressed her desire to take some time off from regular, contract work on a soap. However, both Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless have kept the door open for Davidson to return for short-term story arcs in the future. Both soaps are distributed by Sony Television, so it's possible the actress could return to either or both!
Davidson's initial three-day Y&R stint begins October 25. She will return to the show for episodes airing on November 27 and December 2.
