Shemar Moore (Malcolm Winters) is headed back to his daytime roots. The Emmy winner will make a return appearance on The Young and the Restless later this summer.
"I am excited about returning to The Young and the Restless as a special guest," Moore said in a statement. "This is where I got my start and I am looking forward to reuniting with my soap opera family."
During his two-day return, Moore will reunite with longtime friend and co-star Kristoff St. John, who portrays his on-screen brother, Neil Winters. In the episodes, Malcolm returns to Genoa City after leaving town years before without a proper goodbye. Now, he's back for an important visit with the Winters family to make amends and catch up on everything he's missed.
It's been nine years since CBS Daytime viewers caught their last glimpse of Moore on Y&R -- but it hasn't been that long since Malcolm was last on-screen. Darius McCrary held the role of Malcolm from December 2009 through October 2011.
Since exiting Y&R, Moore has gone on to star in the CBS primetime series Criminal Minds. The drama returns for its tenth season this fall on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Moore earned a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2000. A year earlier as an Emmy presenter, he announced that perpetual runner-up Susan Lucci (Erica Kane, All My Children) had finally won an Emmy.
Moore, meanwhile, pops up in Genoa City on September 10 and 11.
