The Young and the Restless' streak as daytime's number one drama continues, and the soap is celebrating 28 years in the top dog position.
CBS Daytime sent out a press release today, announcing that the world of Genoa City has officially marked 1,457 consecutive weekly wins (28 years) as the #1 drama, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending December 9.
"For the week, The Young and the Restless averaged 4.66m and was first in women 25-54 (1.4/10) for the 511th time in 513 weeks and first in women 18-49 (0.9/07) for the 505th time in 509 weeks," states the release. "Season-to-date, The Young and the Restless is averaging 4.95 and is first among all daytime programs in women 25-54 (1.6/11) and women 18-49 (1.0/08)."
Fans shouldn't be surprised if Y&R continues to rock the ratings game long into 2017; fan reviews of the new material by returning writer/co-executive producer Sally Sussman (who's receiving creative consulting from Kay Alden) have been positive across the board, and the show's numbers remain light years ahead of The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and Days of our Lives.
