The Young and the Restless' 45th anniversary celebration is already in full swing, but nobody is resting on their laurels and allowing the excitement to fizzle out. In fact, the CBS Daytime soap's executive producer, Mal Young, teases that the storylines slated to hit the screen this week will change the canvas forever.
The 45-year-old series posted an exclusive video teaser featuring the exec, and he breaks down exactly why fans won't want to miss a minute of the material set for the rest of the show's action-packed anniversary week.
"This is a huge honor and moment for me, personally, to have the responsibility of overseeing the celebrations for the 45th anniversary of Y&R. The anniversary is on a Monday, but actually it's all about these five episodes and events that are going to unfold across the five episodes that are going to change lives forever," he teases "We've got major storylines happening and major peaks of what we've been building up to for months. So, it was important, also, that some of those people came from the past, like Mac [Kelly Kruger], who would actually play into the current storylines."
Seeing former favorites like Kruger has been a real treat for viewers. But as Young explains, it's been the same for everyone on set, as well.
"It's been like a real reunion this week, while we've been filming everything. It's been a joy for everyone, simply meeting each other after not seeing each other for years," he shares. "The atmosphere has been exciting and emotional, and I think we've got something that's truly exciting and special for the fans."
