Viewers of The Young and the Restless have seen the last of Gina Tognoni in the role of Phyllis Summers. The actress took to social media to share that her final scenes as the feisty Genoa City resident aired on Friday, June 7.
"That's a wrap!!" Tognoni posted along with a behind-the-scenes video that was taken just after she shot her last scenes. "I am so grateful for everyone who took the journey with My Phyllis. See you soon."
Tognoni's final moments on the CBS soap opera were tense; as viewers saw, Phyllis called out for help after Kevin (Greg Rikaart) drugged her, kidnapped her, and threw her into an underground prison. Y&R spoilers tease that Summer (Hunter King), Adam (Mark Grossman), and Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) get into the drama just as Michelle Stafford -- who originated the role of Phyllis in 1994 but has more recently been playing General Hospital's Nina Reeves -- reprises the iconic character.
While announcing her final scenes via Instagram, Tognini also took to Facebook to thank everybody for the past five years she has played Phyllis.
"That's a wrap!! Today was my Phyllis' last scene," she wrote. "I love the process so much as an actor. I love what it takes to tell a story beyond the words on the page. Thank you for the incredible honor to be a part of your world for the past five years. See you soon."
At this time, it's unclear when Stafford will make her debut as Phyllis, but she is reportedly already back on set, working, meaning it won't be long until viewers will see her back in the shoes of the feisty redhead. As for Tognoni's future, the Emmy-winning actress promises that fans will see her soon. Fingers crossed it will be back in a daytime role!
