Well, the results are finally in, and the suspicion that many The Young and the Restless viewers have had about Mishael Morgan's new character, Amanda Sinclair, is true: she is the twin sister of the late Hilary Curtis. The reveal will have implications for many of the residents of Genoa City -- most of all Amanda herself!
"It's pretty strange and crazy. Being the person who played Hilary and plays Amanda, I feel Amanda's loss even though I'm the one who played Hilary," Morgan tells TV Insider of the plot twist. "There's a feeling of loss and that Amanda can't get any closure. Hilary's gone. Amanda is stuck in this place of 'Oh, I had a sister, but I don't have a sister.'"
Once the shock of the situation wears off, Amanda is sure to find that her new familial connection changes her relationships with Nate (Sean Dominic) and Hilary's former husband, Devon (Brighton James), who is now in a relationship with Elena (Brytni Sarpy). But don't ask Morgan exactly how this twin sister reveal will affect her love life and the lives of those around her.
"I have no idea... but I actually like that!" she enthuses. "Sometimes it's nice to know where the story's going so you can get to work. Other times, it's best to trust and enjoy the journey. Amanda's surrounded by friends. She's connected to Devon, who knew her sister, and he can just look at her and be reminded of Hilary. Nate has embraced Amanda and looked beyond what other people saw regarding her resemblance to Hilary. He's the dream guy for her. He checks all the boxes."
However, there's also Amanda's connection with Billy (Jason Thompson) to consider, which is a wrench that helps keep the storyline a little less predictable than it might be otherwise.
"Amanda also has this dynamic with Billy. He's fun and he pushes her outside of her comfort zone," Morgan points out. "I want to be open and honest in [all] these scenes and see what's going to happen next."
