Gloria Simmons was a naive 15 year old living in Detroit in the 60's when she met the handsome and charismatic Lowell Baldwin in Ann Arbor, where he was attending college on scholarship at the University of Michigan. Lowell dropped out of college, became a hippie living in a commune with Gloria, and drove a school bus for a living. His mother Florence expressed disappointment at Lowell's disinterest in his education after falling for "that young Detroit girl". Gloria got pregnant and their son Michael was born. Lowell and Gloria were Viet Nam war protesters as part of a non-violent hippie branch of the activist group "The Weathermen". During one protest rally that consisted of a confetti-bombing of a bank, someone substituted a real bomb, and a janitor was killed. The bomb went off just as Lowell arrived with the intent to stop them, and was seen as a suspect when he tried to help those who were hurt. Rather than raise a young child on the run, Lowell abandoned Gloria and fled to Canada.
Ten years later, Gloria was still living in Detroit working as a waitress at a diner, when she married Tom Fisher, and their son Kevin Fisher was born. But Kevin's father "Terrible Tom" was a drunk who took out his frustration and anger by abusing the kids physically and verbally and often locked Kevin in a closet. Gloria apparently was too afraid of Tom to stop him, so Michael escaped from home as soon as he could as a teenager. Then the beatings fell on Kevin, who Michael described as a great kid, funny and full of potential.
Once he was old enough to leave, Kevin went to live with Michael who was a struggling Law student on partial scholarship. Kevin became an apprentice electrician, but he ripped off Michael and his friends, and started a fire at a neighbor's while replacing some switches, and the house burned down. No charges were ever filed, but Kevin was fired, and Michael sent him packing. Michael became a highly respected Attorney in Genoa City, but ended up in prison. After he did his time, Michael managed to pick up his career and was enjoying his success. Also living in Genoa City years later, Kevin was working as a bookkeeper at Marsino's Gentlemen's Club. Kevin's boss Bobby Marsino was tipped to Kevin's alleged illegal activities including arson, statutory rape, and attempted murder, so he fired Kevin. Then stripper Brittany Hodges was electrocuted during her act by contact with the dancing pole, and suffered severe burns to her face. Kevin was one of the suspects, his motive revenge toward Bobby for firing him, and toward Britt for dissing his advances.
Kevin showed up at Michael's office expecting help, but Michael turned his long-lost half-brother away. Not long afterward, Kevin was arrested for Brittany's electrocution and panicked over spending the night in jail - reminding him of those long dark punishments in the closet as a kid. Lauren Fenmore took pity, bailed him out, and he moved in with Michael as part of the deal. Finding out that Lauren was the one who bailed him out, Kevin ended up confiding in her his Genoa City crimes, but claimed that he did not hurt Brittany. Lauren swore she wouldn't tell anyone. Paul guessed from Lauren's demeanor that Kevin had confessed, so went after Kevin and stupidly pressured him, inferring that Lauren had told, causing Kevin to flee Genoa City for his mother Gloria who was living in the same seedy apartment in his and Michael's hometown of Detroit. Kevin awaited his mother Gloria's return, opening that same closet door and reliving the terrifying experience of being locked inside as punishment as a child by "Terrible Tom." Gloria was shocked to see him, and hugged and rocked him, begging him to love her now, after she had turned her back on the abuse all those years. Michael showed up just before the Detroit police knocked on the door wanting Kevin. Michael called Detective Weber back in Genoa City, and convinced him to let him bring Kevin back. Gloria and Michael hadn't seen each other in many years either, and Michael was obviously resentful of her. But Gloria talked Michael into letting her return to Genoa City with Kevin. Kevin ended up in jail, and when the prisoners labeled him as a child molester, they beat him up with a "blanket party." Kevin went to the jail hospital, then was released when Bobby got his mobster pals to admit they fried Brittany.
Michael laid down the law to his two unwelcome houseguests to not touch anything and give him his space, but allowed them to use his membership at the Athletic Club and charge their needs to him. John Abbott was bedazzled by the much younger Gloria Fisher, unaware that she was the mother of unscrupulous Attorney Michael Baldwin and Kevin Fisher, the guy who tried to murder John's Grand Daughter Colleen and burned down Gina's restaurant. Ashley and Jack were both shocked when John and Gloria returned from a cruise and announced they were married. Convinced that the low class Gloria was a gold-digger, Ashley disapproved of their relationship and vowed to end it, while Jack was content if Gloria made John happy. But then John found out that Gloria was mother to Michael and Kevin, so he was ready to end the marriage. But a fall down the stairs caused John to break his hip, and Gloria managed to weasel her way back into his good graces while he recuperated from hip replacement surgery.
Kevin continued his infatuation for Lauren, but Michael was drawn to Lauren himself as they met often to discuss Kevin, and eventually ended up lovers. Mac was able to get Kevin to open up to him, and convinced him to go to a psychiatrist. Kevin appears to be learning how to deal with his past and it well when he realized that Mac was not interested him as more than a friend. Michael eventually popped the question after dinner in the Private Dining Room at The Genoa City Athletic Club which he had setup like a gambling casino. After some hesitance by Lauren over Michael's lack of communication about his personal life, Lauren did say yes. Gloria was thrilled with the impending marriage, and took over the wedding plans. Michael quizzed Lauren about her rarely-mentioned son Scotty, hopeful that he would attend the wedding and they could finally meet, but Lauren was evasive. After an Internet search turned up nothing but a last name for Scotty, Kevin asked to borrow Lauren's cell phone, and they traced him by his phone number to Toronto. Michael went there and met Scotty, now 24, and a college student/Teaching Assistant, working on his Masters in Education with a specialty in creative writing. Scotty disclosed that he's never been back to Genoa City since he was a toddler, and grew up in boarding schools around the world. But wherever he was, Lauren visited often and kept an apartment nearby. Scotty always wondered why his mother was so secretive, but gave up asking about it back when he was a kid. Not long after Michael returned to Genoa City, Lauren decided it was time to tell Scotty about her impending marriage, but Scotty admitted he'd already met Michael. Lauren felt betrayed, but Michael later reminded her about how she disliked HIS family secrets. After Lauren left Scotty's, who should walk out of Scotty's bedroom, but Sheila Carter! Sheila (as "Brenda") was taking college courses and being tutored by Scotty, who was the spitting image of his father. Sheila gave Scotty an idea for a novel. Unknown to him, the story was of Sheila and his mother Lauren, but Sheila made Lauren out to be the evil-doer who stole Sheila's baby when the opposite was true. Meanwhile, Michael discovered their history, and visited another "Sheila" in a California prison for the criminally insane. This unknown person turned herself in after a two month's escape. She had plastic surgery to look like Sheila and was kept drugged.
Scotty decided to go to Genoa City for his mother's wedding and moved into the Loft apartment with Kevin. Brenda soon followed and took up residence in the same seedy hotel where Tom Fisher was staying. The evil Tom and "Brenda" hit it off, and joined forces against Michael and Lauren. Scotty visited "Brenda" often to work on their book. Sheila felt free to move about in GC disguised as the dark haired British accented "Jennifer." She even ended up saving Gloria's life while she was waitressing a party at the Athletic Club. When Scotty bought his mother a silver pendant, Sheila saw her chance and dipped it in poison. The more Lauren wore it, the more she started getting sick and having hallucinations. The night before their wedding Lauren awaited Michael to join her for a romantic dinner on the roof. She began hallucinating that Sheila was tormenting her. Sheila was there for real, talking her into jumping off the roof. Michael arrived just in time to save her, though never saw Sheila. Lauren was admitted to the hospital where they discovered the poisoning, but "Brenda" talked Tom into stealing the necklace before it could be checked for toxin. The wedding was postponed while Lauren recovered. Michael and Paul figured out it was the necklace, but Sheila managed to get it cleaned and returned to the hospital laundry. Scotty got a book deal for "One Stolen Heart", but "Brenda" was livid. She decided it was too risky to remain in GC as "Brenda", so was returning to Toronto, but actually stayed on as "Jennifer" intent on getting back at Tom who knew too much, in addition to Lauren.
Ashley began dating Paul Williams but was also being pursued by a mysterious man named Tom Callahan. What she didn't know was that he was Gloria's X-husband, and Kevin's child abuser father, "Terrible" Tom Fisher. Gloria didn't know if he was even alive, but Kevin's first encounter with him turned him back into that cowering child he once was. Michael paid him off to leave town, but that obviously didn't work. In trying to figure out what Tom was up to, Michael discovered that Gloria's divorce from Tom was never filed. He assured Gloria that her marriage would be seen as legal, but could be voided should John decide. Tom was seeing a lot of Ashley, doing things like fishing and baseball games. They were always just barely missing encountering Gloria or John at the Athletic Club or the Abbott mansion. One day Tom's luck ran out, as they ran into Michael at the Abbott's. Amazingly, Michael did not expose him to Ashley, but afterward, he suggested Gloria have Tom declared legally dead. After witnessing a bit of his temper, Ashley asked Tom to back off, that she only wanted to be friends. After Tom discovered the ad in the paper, he went to the Abbott mansion and confronted Gloria who was shocked and terrified to see him. She was free and clear with John, but further indebted to Tom, and Michael was on the spot. They told Ashley, who later slugged Tom at the Athletic Club. Because Gloria continued to pay Tom blackmail money stolen from John, Michael formed an alliance with Ashley. They planted drugs in Tom's motorcycle saddle bags, and arranged for him to be caught. But Tom pressured Gloria through Sheila (disguised as Jennifer) to pay his bail. Ashley began dating Tom as part of the plot to bring him down but Tom found out and was bent on revenge!
Not realizing that Sheila was intent on murder, Tom was conned into joining her plot to get back at Lauren, by planting a bomb on Lauren and Michael's honeymoon yacht. Michael watched in horror from shore as the yacht blew up. Lauren was not found, and was presumed dead. But Tom had rescued Lauren and carried her and Sheila back to a farmhouse in Genoa City where he held them in the basement fallout shelter. Lauren convinced Tom that Sheila was the bad guy, so he contacted Gloria to arrange a deal to turn over Lauren. John overheard the phone call, grabbed his gun, and met Tom in an alley instead. During a struggle the gun went off, and Tom was killed. John dropped the gun and took off getting into a car accident, but Ashley arrived in time to witness it. Ashley confessed to the shooting and was arrested with Michael as her lawyer. The morgue attendant handed over Tom's effects to Kevin, which included a key to a safety deposit box which Michael later traced to a bank in Cleveland. Meanwhile Lauren and Sheila fought and Lauren broke Sheila's ankle. Eventually, realizing Tom was not coming back, they joined forces attempting to escape. As they were almost out, Paul arrived and pulled Lauren to safety while the shelter caved in on Sheila. Sheila was not found in the rubble, but was later seen at a plastic surgeon wanting a new face. Michael and Lauren enjoyed a tearful reunion, and everyone in Genoa City was relived she was back among the living. After recovering from the accident, John regained his memory, and confessed to killing Tom. John got Paul to help him convince the DA that he was guilty, and took a plea bargain to get Ashley exonerated of all charges. Although Colleen, Gloria, Jill, Katherine, Jack, Victor, and Ashley testify as character witnesses, they are shocked when John be sentenced to 7 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter. John arranged a plea bargain to get all possible charges dropped against Ashley for her deception, and was sentenced to 7 years in prison
With John in prison and not at the mansion to protect her, Gloria grew tired of the way Jack and Ashley treated her and vowed to get even. She managed to get hold of the new product Ashley was developing in the lab and compromised it with cleaning solution to make trouble for them. Gloria even asked for a sample, then used it on herself getting major facial burns to show everyone that Ashley's cream was a hazard. Unfortunately samples had already been distributed to select people, and a woman ended up dying after using the cream. The cause of death was a bit suspicious, but the husband was paid off by Jabot to avoid a lawsuit. Jabot's reputation was further ruined, and Jack was fired by Katherine as a result. Gloria then invited Kevin to live at the Abbott estate, ingratiated herself to Kay and Jill and landed a job at Jabot as Fashion Consultant, then managed to get Kevin hired on as Director of Internet Affairs to replace Phyllis. She let both Kevin and Michael in on her schemes and they reluctantly helped to keep her secrets.
While in prison John started getting into fights with inmates and having spells where he believed his first wife Dina had just left him. Jack, Ashley and Gloria were made aware, and Jack got permission for John's doctor to look at him, and it was discovered that John was being over-medicated. Before that was corrected, Jack took this opportunity to get John to hand-write a new will cutting out "his evil wife" whom John thought was Dina. Six months after his incarceration, John was about to be released early due to ill heath when he had a stroke and was rushed to GC Memorial in grave condition. The doctors made the family aware that John would never come out of his vegetative state and had signed a DNR. After much bickering between Gloria and Jack, Gloria decided to use her authority in the DNR to allow John to die. Billy and Traci returned to say farewell to their father, as did old friend Kay, and X-wife Jill. Jack and Ashley, who wanted a small family-only memorial service for John, over-ruled Gloria who wanted a huge lavish funeral. As the feud between them heightened, Jack made sure that Gloria had the wrong time so that she missed the memorial service where each of John's children, and Kay and Jill, gave a heartfelt eulogy. Gloria, Michael, Lauren and Kevin arrived to find it over, so held their own service for John including Gloria's eulogy.
The Fishers were jubilant and the Abbott's were appalled to discover John's will left Gloria 50% of his billion dollar estate, and the rest including the Abbott mansion to be divided among his children. But when everyone arrived in probate court, the prison chaplain turned over the hand-written will he had been given for safe-keeping by John which divided the estate among only his children. It was also exposed that John's attorney had never gotten around to making the marriage between John and Gloria legal. Afterward, Gloria arrived at the Abbott Mansion to find her belongings in trash bags on the front porch and the locks changed, with Jack gloating behind the glass door. The next day, as John looked on in the guise of Jack's guilty conscience, the judge decided in the end that the hand-written will would stand, so Gloria was cut out. Assuming that Jack was somehow behind this, Gloria was livid. She and Kevin moved in with Michael and Lauren. Jill and Kay promoted Gloria to Vice President of Creative Affairs for Jabot, further infuriating the Abbotts.
It wasn't long before Gloria set her sights on the recently widowed DA, Will Bardwell, who had just come into an inheritance. She started attending widow's grief counseling to be with him, and was competing against Jill, one of her few friends, in an effort to keep Jill away from Will. Gloria got Kevin to monitor the security cameras at Jabot, and they discovered that Jack was the secret owner of Jabot. Michael and Lauren discovered all of Kevin and Gloria's secrets. Using a little sexual enhancement drug to make sure that Jill and Ji Min got it on in the board room, and the video feed to monitor them, she and Will walked in on them and Will dumped Jill. Once Gloria discovered that Will was onto her in his investigation of the Glo by Jabot skin cream tainting case, it didn't take Gloria long to get Will to marry her. But Will admitted that his inheritance was tied up in court over a company that was severely in debt. Will had a stroke and died after deciding he loved Gloria enough not to turn her in. Then Gloria found a letter stating the inheritance case had been settled, and Will had been awarded 50 million dollars! Gloria threw an elaborate memorial party at the Genoa City Athletic Club and who should turn up, but Will's twin brother Jeffrey! Gloria began spending her inheritance like it was water. Jeff started coming onto Gloria, but she didn't trust him, suspicious that he was only after "her" money. Once Jeff discovered her Jabot cream secret, he coerced Gloria into marrying him to keep her secret, and began enjoying spending her money.
Due to Jack's falsifying his father's will, the judge reversed his decision on Gloria's inheritance from John, and she was awarded half of Abbott Manor. Since Gloria and Jeffrey moved in and Jack & Sharon refused to move out, they were time-sharing by area. Meanwhile, Jeff claimed he had actually fallen for Gloria, and continued to blackmail her to force her to become his wife in every way. So Kevin and Gloria cooked up a plot to make it look like Jeff was slowly poisoning her to inherit, but Jeff one-upped her again, substituting something else for the poison which she was taking daily. Both couples were doing everything they could to make the other leave. Gloria redecorated in outlandish style, and Sharon & Jack with Jeff's help, hired an actor, Alistair Wallingford, to play John's ghost to scare Gloria into selling her share of the mansion and leaving. Gloria figured it out and threatened lawsuit, but Jack, influenced by his conscience in the form of his dead father John, gave up and gave her the house, and he and Sharon moved out. Then Gloria, influenced by Jana and her beliefs in karma, decided to turn her life around and gave the mansion back to Jack. Gloria and Jeff began to realize they really were actually attracted to each other even after all their feuding and blackmailing. They had one hot night together, but misunderstandings and refusal to admit they cared led to Jeffrey filing for divorce and asking for half her net worth as a settlement. Meanwhile Gloria was still trying to offset her karma and made legal arrangements to donate half her assets to charity as the Marksalogria Charitable Foundation (which was an algorithm for meaning Gloria's Karma). So Jeff received the other half in their divorce settlement, and Gloria was left penniless! Even her diamond stash turned out to be fake. Talk about karma!
The Fishers were celebrating Michael's first Father's Day with son Fenmore, when Michael insisted Gloria tell him more about his own father, Lowell Baldwin. Gloria told her story of how they were young idealistic hippies, omitting the activist group that they belonged to and changing the ending that Gloria discovered she was pregnant with Michael about the time Lowell got drafted and fled to Canada. She told them rather than raise an infant in a commune, she let Lowell go alone and never saw him again. She guiltily admitted that they had never been married like she had led everyone to believe.
Michael's partner, Detective Paul Williams, located a River Baldwin wanted for murder after setting up a bombing of a bank as a leader with the 60's activist group "The Weathermen". He had the same social security number as Lowell, and was also born in New Orleans. Records also showed that a Gloria Simmons paid his bail. Gloria again lied in response to Michael's confrontation that Lowell used her, convinced her he was innocent, and disappeared after she bailed him out, leaving her and baby Michael penniless. Paul also later discovered that a Richard Gerick had switched identities with Lowell in 1993 after Lowell, then a College professor in Southern California was kicked out and disappeared because he slept with student. Michael began having second thoughts about finding his long lost father.
Influenced by his conscience in the form of John again, Jack relented and allowed Gloria to live in the Abbott pool house. After trying her hand and failing at waitressing at Crimson Lights and sales clerking for Lauren at the Glo by Jabot Boutique, she begged Kay for her job back and was given the Jabot Receptionist job instead. When Jeffrey realized how low Gloria had sunk, he made another attempt to reconcile with no more playing tricks and misunderstandings. After one hot night together, Gloria accused him of somehow stealing her diamonds, (which he did) and Jeff was mad at her again. Jill came on hot & heavy to Jeff seducing him in her office chair, but it wasn't long before he finally realized that the woman he wanted was Gloria. Jeff broke it off with Jill, and Jill took it out on the new receptionist Gloria, treating her like a slave. Jeff returned to Gloria and asked to start over together. Gloria went along with it half-heartedly until they made love again. Then Jeff coaxed her to his place, showed her 50 million in cash to frolic in, asked her to remarry him, and they eloped to Las Vegas with a wedding officiated by Little Richard. They later spotted David Chow losing big at roulette. Gloria conveniently let it slip to Nikki before David got home, so David confessed and asked Nikki for a divorce "to save her from him". Not long after they returned to Genoa City, Jill fired Gloria.
Although Jana was originally planning her wedding to Kevin in "Goth" style with Amber designing her gown, then influenced by being maid of honor for Sabrina began dreaming of a more traditional wedding, they ended up with a hippie style wedding at an ashram in Malibu. All in hippie attire except for Jana's white lace gown, Amber was her maid of honor and Daniel Kevin's best man with Michael as groomsman. Lauren, Gloria and Jeffrey attended, and Colleen tagged along as Daniel's date. To everyone's shock, the guru officiating turned out to be Michael's long lost father Lowell "River" Baldwin. Gloria and Michael gave him a tongue-lashing over his abandoning them before Michael was born, and Lowell retorted with cosmic gibberish about fate and the universe, and asked them not to turn him in to the Feds. Michael gave him hell with tears of hurt in his eyes, but left saying he would not turn him in. Jana and Kevin honeymooned driving a 69 Dodge Charger on the California coast.
Jeffrey and Gloria Bardwell's next plot was to buy up shares in Jabot to get controlling interest. They opened an account in the Caymans called "Agreeing Lovers" which was an anagram for "Gloria's Revenge". They included Jack in the plan, promising him head of Jabot again. Jack was hesitant to trust them as they don't even fully trust each other. But he convinced Ashley, Billy and Traci to let him proxy their stocks to help put Jabot back under Abbott control.
It wasn't long before River turned up at Michael's door trying to explain and make amends for the past to Michael and Gloria, claiming he was not guilty of the death in the 60's. Gloria had a very touching reunion with Lowell, and she and Michael both made peace with him. Just as he was about to leave town, Lowell was apprehended by the FBI. Gloria's current husband Jeffrey later admitted that he turned Lowell in out of jealousy. Not long afterward 15 year old Eden showed up at Michael's looking for her father River. Lowell explained to Michael that when he was teaching in California he got a grad student pregnant, and was fired from the university as a result. Eden's mother had a drug problem, disappeared after Eden was born, and she died. Lowell raised Eden to be self-sufficient in case he got caught, home-schooling her to be far advanced for her age. He asked Michael to take her in, and Lauren convinced Michael they should give it a try, but Eden was sullen and belligerent. Attorney Dick Dentner, a former activist himself, saw Lowell as a hero and took his case with plans to "stick it to the man". Michael attempted to help, but Lowell was not interested. But when Lowell was about to be extradited back to Michigan, Michael acted as his lawyer and got his trial held in Genoa City, Lowell finally accepted Michael to defend him. Michael spent days pouring over four decades of files from the 1960's trial of Lowell's cohorts. He found and met with a buddy of Lowell's, Howie "Kite" Sullivan, who told him that he was with "River" the day of the bombing, and that "River" was not responsible for the janitor who was killed. That it was meant to be only a confetti bomb, but someone substituted a real one, and River was only there to try to stop the protest. Howie claimed he was an FBI informant who, when he refused to testify against Lowell, ended up doing time. Meanwhile Gloria located a note in the files where the prosecution had scrapped Howie's testimony because he refused to cut a deal, which verified his story. Back at the jail, after a visit from Jeffrey that convinced him that ever going free was hopeless, Lowell took a capsule that would make him sick so he'd get taken to the hospital. He left a note for Michael, and with Eden causing a distraction, Lowell escaped out a second story window hurting his ankle. Eden met Lowell at a warehouse, but he convinced her to stay with Michael to have a decent life. Not long after she left, the police surrounded the warehouse. Michael arrived and talked Lowell into surrendering. While working on Lowell's case, Michael found a photo of the activist group, and Lowell identified everyone, including Gloria. Michael was particularly interested in finding Lowell's former best friend Marshall. He suspected he was the one who substituted the real bomb, but he turned out to be deceased. Michael found among the old evidence against Lowell a tape of a witness named Tonya condemning Lowell as a violent ringleader, the voice undeniably Gloria's. When Michael confronted her with it, Gloria broke down and admitted she was coerced into it by the police under threat of getting Michael taken away from her. When Michael told Lowell, he said he had known all along, understood the circumstances and forgave her long ago. Gloria walked in the visiting room, overheard, and they cried and embraced.
Meanwhile Katherine began having some recurring memory loss, but was covering it up pretty well. Gloria took advantage, pulling tricks to convince Kay she was losing it in an attempt to get enough of Kay's Jabot stock to have controlling interest. Kevin helped her once by moving Kay's car to make her think she'd misplaced it, but Jana found out and disapproved. Luckily Jill caught and stopped them, just as Kay was signing over the stock. Esther, Cane, and Jill are wondering if Kay was still capable of driving, let alone overseeing Chancellor and Jabot even with Jill and Cane in charge of each. Kay responded to Jill's taking away her keys by drinking again - or so we thought. Jeffrey spotted Marge drunk and assumed it was Kay. Kay got $75,000 in cash from the bank to get Marge into rehab, but on her way she left the bag with the money at Crimson Lights, and Kevin, unable to catch her, was keeping it in his safe. Jill and a Chancellor lawyer forced Kay to get checked out for her memory problems. While waiting for the doctor, Kay showed Nikki how bad she gets by referring to Nikki's dead husband David as though he were still alive. After seeing the doctor, Kay talked them into giving her another day to check into the hospital so that she could secretly help Marge, then disappeared. Jeff convinced Gloria, Nikki and Esther that Kay was drinking again. Actually Kay was secretly taking Marge to rehab, but they were in a bad car accident on the way. Kay was thrown clear, but Marge was found dead in the car by Nikki and Jill who were out looking for Kay. Not knowing about Marge's reappearance, they assumed it was Kay's body. A funeral was held, and several people from Kay's past attended; her son Brock, her late grandson Phillip's wife Nina, her step-son and daughter Danny and Gina, her attorney Mitchell, and her old friends Liz Foster, Traci and Ashley, and Dina Mergeron. Daniel sketched a picture of Kay which was framed on her casket. Meanwhile Marge's friend Murphy found Kay lying beside a creek, assumed it was Marge, and after she refused to go to a hospital, took her home with him to his trailer house. Kay's injuries were slight, but she was confused now about who her identity, trying to fit into what Murphy tells her of Marge the waitress with the drinking problem.
Kay's will was read, and Brock received one percent of her billion-dollar-plus assets in trust to continue his good works and was named Chairman of the Chancellor Foundation. Her step-children Gina and Danny received a one-half of one percent in cash. Esther received one tenth of one percent and Kay's half of the estate, so that Esther could live her life in financial freedom. Nikki received all of Katherine's jewelry, including a family heirloom emerald and diamond ring given to Kay by her mother. Grandchildren Cane, Billy, McKenzie, and Phillip received one-quarter of one percent in trust. Katherine left one fifth of one percent to Amber, so that she and Daniel could pursue their artistic goals, and gave Amber the sole rights to her memoirs, which Jill had forbidden her to publish. Jill was left the remainder of the assets, all but five percent of Kay's Jabot stock. That five percent, in addition to a Ming vase, was left to Gloria as both were given to her by John Abbott. Jill was livid, knowing that the Chancellors now were no longer majority stockholders.
A Jabot shareholders meeting was called, and to Jill's shock, Gloria and Jeff Bardwell and Billy Abbott, with the majority of Jabot shares and proxies from Traci and Ashley, announced their takeover. Jack was present, and Jill reminded them that he was still legally banned from having anything to do with Jabot. Total confusion about who was now in charge was calmed when Ashley Abbott arrived and announced that she was once again the rightful CEO of Jabot.
In court, thanks to Michael's expertise and Gloria's last minute testimony, River's charges for the bombing of the Michigan bank building and resulting death of the janitor were dropped. Then a California tax bill for the ashram which was in Eden's name arrived, causing Michael to realize the only way River would have had the 4.5 million dollars to buy the ashram was if he had stolen the 4.5 million the bank claimed lost in the bank during the bombing. Confronted by Michael, River admitted he had gone there for the money, not to stop the bombing as he claimed, and that he had conned everyone since. River left town, stopping only for Eden's teddy bear which he had stuffed with the remaining $60,000 Kay had left at Crimson lights that Jana had given him. But Eden caught and confronted him. River told her she was better off with Michael and Lauren and left her behind. Eden was crushed to realize he was a conman all along, but glad that she and Noah had discovered and hid the money, so he had only a bear full of paper.
Because Gloria went against Jeffrey forbidding her to testify for River at his trial, Jeffrey retaliated by burning his own face with the tainted cream so that Gloria would be discovered as the culprit. Gloria was arrested and jailed for tainting the face cream, and the Abbotts tossed Jeffrey out of the pool house and are suing for the Jabot shares and damages. Meanwhile Gloria and Kay have met in the Genoa City Jail, and she convinced Gloria that she was really Kay. While visiting his mother in jail, Kevin met the woman posing as Kay Chancellor. He believed her, and Kevin and Jana, joining forces with Amber and Daniel, used Kay's money to bail her out of jail and hired Michael to represent her to prove that she was Katherine.
Jeffrey and Jill each wooed Gloria to sell her Jabot shares, and Jack also offered to drop the charges if she sold to him, but she sold them to Victor instead for money deposited in an offshore account. Ever plotting against Jack Abbott, Victor offered Jabot to Jill if she would seat Billy as CEO, then all the Abbotts, including Jack, could stay on board. Jill accepted the offer and justified Billy's appointment to Cane because Billy was an Abbott. As part of his manipulating Ashley away from Jabot, Victor talked her into taking the deceased Brad Carlton's position on the Newman board, but Colleen showed up at the board meeting vote citing Newman by-laws that would allow her to assume her father's board seat. Victor called in J.T. to try to talk her out of it, but he failed. Victor suspected Jack was behind it, and he was, although she wanted to do it for Brad as well.
Shortly after Jeff visited Gloria in jail to tell her he was divorcing her again, Michael arrived with some good news. Paul investigated Andrew Gibson, discovering that Emma had a child by a former husband who was institutionalized with anaphylactic shock from a severe food allergy. Emma's tests were compared with the son finding six points of correlation, proving Gloria innocent of causing her death. Although the judge was appalled at Gloria's product tampering, he had to set her free of charges in the death of Emma Gibson. Her first act as a free woman was to visit Jeffrey, and finding him in bed with Jill, had a cat fight with her, then left. Jill resented that she was being played, but after getting one up on Gloria, she decided to stay and enjoy it. The next time Jill saw him though, she told Jeffrey to forget it, she was not interested in playing his games. Jeff went back to Gloria, and Gloria told him she'd signed the divorce papers and never wanted to see him again.
Kevin became near-catatonic and delusional in a padded cell, and wouldn't even let Gloria near him. Though still non-responsive, he was OK with Mackenzie, Jana, and Michael's visits. But Amber was the one to finally have some affect on Kevin. Jeffrey visited him, realized that Kevin was haunted by demons, and encouraged him to fight back, that he was not a bad boy. Kevin had a major delusion that he was put in an ambulance in a straight jacket, and the chipmunk taunted him into jumping out of the back while it was moving. They escaped into the woods where Kevin and the chipmunk had it out with Jeffrey's words to fight back echoing in his head, he did, and came out of it hearing Daniel plead with him. Meanwhile, Gloria confessed to getting Kevin to go back to being bad by helping her trick Kay, and Kay banished Gloria for her greed. Roger & Annie were captured in Canada. After their statements about Clint's torturing Kevin and that the gun that Amber had hidden was filled with blanks, Kevin was let out on bail in time to attend Kay Chancellor's marriage to Murphy.
After Kay's being alive invalidated Jill's claim on Jabot and Victor turned her down to work at Newman, she teamed up with Gloria and Jeffrey, since Gloria cannot access all the money she was paid for her shares, to get back at Victor for using them all. Gloria was found guilty of tainting the face cream in the civil suit, and Jabot was awarded double damages, but Jeff revealed he had divorced her to protect her assets. Then all three got news that their bank in Grand Cayman was about to go under, thanks to their largest investor, Victor Newman, pulling out when he heard it was in trouble. Jeff, Gloria, and Jill went to the Caymans to get their money, but were too late, lost everything, and were stuck there. A frantic phone call by Jill got Jack to bail them out by arranging for a less than luxurious trip home. Together again and both penniless, Gloria & Jeff were kicked out of the Athletic Club, and conned Phyllis into letting them sign a lease on her penthouse without a credit check.
Jeffrey met with Victor, showed him a photo of Victor hugging Mary Jane, and offered to not show it to Ashley if Victor would pay him, Gloria, and Jill an amount equal to what they lost in the offshore bank, thanks to him. Victor sneered at him, "You don't know who you're dealing with.", and went to Jill. Jill offered to settle for Victor giving her a job at Newman, but he turned her down. Victor asked Gloria and Jeff to create some scandal for Colleen to get her off the Newman board, and he might consider their request. They arranged for Aiden, the Athletic Club bartender and an aspiring actor, to get her drunk at Jimmy's Bar, where Jeff took video of her dancing on a table baring her breasts. Gloria got Kevin to unknowingly put "a video" out on the Internet, and gave her an untraceable email address to make sure everyone saw it. Victoria did and she and Victor called Colleen to Newman to demand her resignation.
Meanwhile a mystery woman took confession with Paul's brother Father Todd, who told Paul he recognized her as their sister Patty. Paul spotted a woman at the athletic club in a blonde wig, recognized her as Mary Jane and followed her. When he confronted her, she pled with him not to turn her in, and confessed that she was Patty. Paul was shocked, but took her to the convent for sanctuary, and called his Assistant DA daughter Heather hoping to get her some help and not jail. Meanwhile Gloria and Jeff found out where she was, and hoping to steal her away to blackmail Victor, Gloria got inside dressed as a nun. Jack saw the standoff at the convent on TV, showed up there, and Paul let him inside. He too was shocked to discover that Mary Jane was Patty, and talked to her. Patty, with a kitten in her arms, had reverted to the young girl they both knew and called "Pattycake", saying she knew that her big brother Paul and Jack would rescue her. Before she would surrender, she insisted Jack marry her, telling him she was pregnant by him. Another ADA was assigned to the standoff once Heather reported, and Detective Chancellor was put in charge. Suddenly the lights went out, and Patty was taken away by Gloria. Paul and Jack figured out that Victor was responsible for Patty's new identity, all the havoc she caused, and her current mental state. Jack told Phyllis the truth about Mary Jane, and she confronted Victor, asking if he brought Patty in and set her up to get back at Jack, causing Patty/Mary Jane to hurt Summer. Victor avoided the question, claiming he would never intentionally hurt a member of his family. Jack offered a two million dollar award, hoping to outbid Victor. Jeff and Gloria heard it on the radio as they were driving Patty to hide out at the Abbott cabin, and ended up making deals with both, but both had booby-trapped their briefcases with blue dye that blew up in their faces, and no money. Gloria appeared to have given up on her life of trickery and went to Jill for a job at the nail salon where she was sweeping floors. But she quit when Deacon Sharpe offered her five million dollars retrieve the original of the Terroni painting Daniel forged for Deacon from Terrible Tom's safe deposit box in Detroit. Daniel had the key, and tried to get the painting for Deacon to get his and Amber's freedom from Deacon's blackmail. Because the bank refused Daniel admittance to the box, he returned with Amber posing as Tom's bereaved widow Gloria. But just after they got into the box and retrieved the painting, Gloria showed up. They convinced her to play along, and got the painting back to Genoa City, where they bickered about what to do with it since Gloria wanted Deacon's five million, Jana felt it should be returned to the museum, and Daniel needed it to give to Deacon for their freedom. Kevin hid the Terroni painting at Crimson Lights, but Gloria found and took it to Deacon. Daniel tricked her, got it back, and returned it to the museum. He received a $25,000 reward, but gave it to Kevin to bail out Ryder. Kevin insisted Ryder come live with him and Jana while he got a new start working at the coffee shop.
Billy Abbott bought out Restless Style magazine/webzine, Billy's first issue became an exposé of Victor Newman's role in Colleen Carlton's death then to be kept alive by the donation of Colleen's heart, plus his part in the failure of the bank in Grand Cayman. The SEC investigated and ordered Victor to repay the Cayman bank depositors for their losses, including Jill, Gloria and Jeffrey. Just in time to save them from eviction, Jeff and Gloria were overjoyed to be rich again, even if she cannot openly spend the money or face a lawsuit from Jack.
When Gloria discovered that Tucker McCall had acquired Chancellor Industries and was about to sell Jabot, she talked Jeffrey into using his money to ally with Jack to bid on Jabot. Jack was horrified, but relented, knowing he could not come up with enough money on his own to outbid Victor. Thanks to Victor's son Adam getting a look at the bids, Victor outbid the Abbotts. Victor named Victoria CEO and hired Gloria as Jabot Ambassadress, just to stick it to Jack. But after signing over Jabot to Victor, Tucker received word that Jack had gotten a judge to block the sale pending investigation of Adam's part in it. When Adam did not show up at the hearing, the case and sale were delayed for thirty days and in the end, Tucker retained Jabot.
Phyllis evicted Jeff and Gloria from her condo for non-payment of rent. Not long afterward, Neil suddenly sold Indigo to Jeffrey. Jeff said it was a present to Gloria to celebrate their anniversary, saying they were happier together now that they were divorced. At Kay & Murphy's 4th of July picnic Gloria and Jeff announced their ownership of Indigo Jazz Club.
Opening night for the newly redecorated club, which was renamed Gloworm, began as a disaster with a cook with food-poisoning and the sudden appearance of the health inspector. But it ended as a huge success when all the invited elite of Genoa City as well as the press approved of both the elegant décor and the food. Abby Newman saw it as another opportunity for exposure, stripped and took a dip and posed for photos in a giant champagne glass that was part of the décor.
When Billy Abbott and Victoria Newman called the Realtor and were assigned a new agent, it turned out to be Gloria Bardwell. Gloria explained that she had gotten her license awhile back, and showed them a house that was redone exactly like the one from one of their favorite old television shows "Father Knows Best". With rooms for both Delia and Reed, they fell in love with it, and bought it on the spot. Gloria had gone on her first appointment and made her first sale.
Kevin discovered that Jeffrey was laundering money out of Gloworm as a bookie running his own betting operation. Rather than expose him to Gloria, Kevin made a deal with Jeffrey to take over cooking the books and act as the bagman in exchange for money to buy back Crimson Lights.
Gloria bought the title of Count for Jeffrey for Valentines Day. Still behind in his money drops, Jeffrey told Gloria they were holding a Valentine's fundraiser called puppy love to benefit dog rescues. During the benefit Gloria locked Kevin and Chloe in the office where they ended up making up and making love. Before Jeffrey could make the drop afterward, Gloria had a woman there from the dog rescue to pick up the proceeds, leaving Jeffrey with no money to pay them off once again.
Mobster Angelo Veneziano took over for Hogan, and the threats against Jeffrey became more violent. One separated shoulder and one knocked out tooth later, and Jeffrey was in big trouble with the mob. Gloria was still oblivious to what was going on, believing that Angelo was just the nice man who stopped by the club with his little dog Vig, who flirted with her. When Gloria would leave the room, Angelo would threaten Kevin and Jeffrey that their women would be hurt next if Jeff didn't pay up. Kevin told Angelo that his attorney was holding a copy of the ledger of all bets that were laundered through Gloworm and details of the operation which convinced Angelo to back off threatening their women. Shortly afterward, Jeffrey won big in Las Vegas and paid off Angelo. But Angelo returned, demanding Jeffrey turn over the ledger. Gloria later told Colin that she had discovered that Jeffrey and Kevin were running numbers at Glow Worm
Chloe and Gloria decided to find out what Jana was up to, and were arrested for breaking and entering Jana's apartment and charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and misdemeanor theft. Billy, as property owner, dropped the charges.
Jeffrey and Gloria had a fight and Jeffrey disappeared. Gloria was devastated to find out that Jeffrey had drained the Gloworm bank account, then had sent her flowers with a farewell note. Desperately needing money to keep Gloworm and herself afloat, Gloria began to butter up Angelo. She convinced record company owner, Devon Winters, to listen to Angelo's spoiled gum-chewing Jersey-accented bimbo daughter, Angelina, a beautiful young girl who wanted a singing career. Although Angelina couldn't even sing on key, Devon reluctantly agreed to help her get into a singing competition. Angelina told Devon, "What Angie wants, Angie gets, and Angie wants Kevin." Newly engaged, Kevin, refused to have anything to do with Angie, and warned Gloria that Angelo was a mobster. But Angelo, who had always been smitten with Gloria, gave her the cash she needed in exchange for becoming her partner in Gloworm.
Still strapped for cash, and afraid she would lose her apartment, Gloria went to work at a Christmas tree lot. After being discovered there by Kevin, she was convinced to accept help from him and Michael instead. Angelo gave Gloria a Christmas gift of Gloworm free and clear. Michael took issue with the contract, but Angelo swore it was legitimate and that they would fix it to Michael's satisfaction. Gloria called Angelo her "Guardian Angelo" and began dating him. But their first date was interrupted by a call from Angelo's henchman, Dino, in Niagara Falls, where he reported to Angelo that he had found Angelo's daughter Angelina in a motel room with Gloria's son Kevin, and Angelo told him to kill Kevin. When Kevin and Angelina spotted Dino in their room, they escaped to Long Island Sound where Kevin fell out of their boat and lost his cell phone on the way to Angelo's cabin on an island there. After they arrived, they discovered Jeffrey who had been marooned there by Angelo. Jeffrey claimed that he had not been the one who wiped out Gloworm's bank account, nor would he have abandoned Gloria. When Kevin and Angelina refused to return to Genoa City with him, he took their boat and left them marooned there in the cold cabin with no food or heat. Meanwhile Gloria and Angelo were getting closer.
Jeffrey capsized, hit his head and lost his memory, only remembering that he had to get to Genoa City. Jill discovered Jeffrey at Crimson Lights, and checked him into a hospital. After Jeffrey began to remember Jill "intimately", she decided it was time to reunite him with Gloria and Gloworm. Gloria was not totally convinced that Jeffrey wasn't lying, and flaunted her new relationship with Angelo. Once Jeffrey met Angelo, although he told no one, Jeff remembered Angelo making him empty the cash drawer at Gloworm.
Dino had pinged Kevin's lost cell phone to the ocean off Long Island Sound, and had arrived at the cabin before them. Kevin and Angelina gobbled up Dino's abandoned bag of burgers and fries, and when Dino returned and pointed his gun at Kevin, Angelina thought fast and begged Dino not to kill Kevin, telling him that they were going to get married. Dino took them back to the mainland where they were married by a justice of the peace. On the way back to Genoa City, Angelina tweeted that she and Kevin had been married, so Angelo and Kevin's family were at Gloworm waiting for them with a reception. Kevin played along as Angelo congratulated them, but he looked miserable. He tried and failed to be alone with Michael to explain.
On Valentine's Day, Jeffrey showed up at Gloworm with a box of discounted chocolates and a plastic rose for Gloria, but she rejected them when Angelo gave her a diamond necklace. Days later, Jeffrey showed up looking for a job, and Gloria hired him as a busboy. Jill chided Gloria for hiring Jeffrey, then treating him badly when the poor man didn't even remember her, because Gloria still had a thing for him. Gloria hired Anita Lawson as a waitress. When Anita first laid eyes on Jeffrey, she dropped her things when she recognized him. Anita later asked Jeffrey, did he not remember her? And Jeffrey told her that he had some memory problems. She later told her daughter Chelsea that she had located her father, but that she wouldn't tell her who he was.
Angelo asked Gloria to marry him, and she said yes. Witnessing this caused Jeffrey to suddenly get his memory back, and he confronted Angelo alone about his making Jeffrey write the farewell note to Gloria and empty out the Gloworm accounts and cash register, before Angelo had kidnapped Jeffrey and stranded him on the island. Angelo then beat Jeffrey up, bound and gagged him, and locked him in the dumpster. But Jill discovered Jeffrey in the dumpster and let set him free just in time to stop the wedding and tell Gloria everything that Angelo had done to him. Jeffrey then asked Gloria to remarry him. After she said yes, Michael and Jeffrey had a chat with Anglo, and Angelo agreed to legally return Gloworm to Gloria, and they would forget the whole kidnapping and theft. An impromptu wedding was held with Katherine Chancellor officiating. Chloe was Gloria's maid of honor with Jill as Jeffrey's best (wo)man, with a miffed Angelo looking on. Afterward Angelina announced that she was moving to Los Angeles to launch her singing career with Angelo as her manager.
Anita's daughter Chelsea arrived and confronted Jeffrey that he was her father. Jeffrey denied it as Anita sneaked out. Gloria and Jeffrey left for their honeymoon in Reno. Luckily Michael thought to nab a hair sample from Jeffrey, and Victoria supplied one from Chelsea. Michael had a DNA test done which proved that it was true. Jeffrey told Gloria that his memory did not extend past her, but he thought that he had never met Anita before she began working at Gloworm. Gloria called Michael and had him fire Anita. When they returned from their honeymoon, Jeffrey claimed the DNA test was false, that Chelsea's father must have been his dead twin brother William. But it was disclosed to viewers that Jeffrey was lying and had paid off Anita to disappear and to keep secret that he and Anita were still legally married.
Kevin and Chloe began working together to create a public bulletin board website. Katherine, Abby and Gloria agreed to invest.
Five months after Jeffrey paid her to leave, Anita showed up at Gloworm supposedly after hearing about Chelsea's engagement to Adam Newman. Gloria was delighted and reminded them that Gloworm hosted weddings, and Jeffrey pointedly congratulated his niece. Anita interjected that whether Chelsea's daddy was Jeffrey or the late William, she did recall that he had a heart-shaped mole on his inner thigh. Gloria, who had been married to both, was then able to identify Jeffrey as Chelsea's father. Later Jeffrey took Anita aside and she threatened to tell everyone that they were still legally married, if her support checks did not resume. Anita gloated to Gloria that she was still married to Jeffrey, but Jeffrey was able to convince Gloria that she had lied. Confronted again by Anita that she was a fool to believe him, Gloria set Michael to find out if it was true, and it was. But Jeffrey showed them papers proving that he had once had Anita declared legally dead.
In November 2012, Gloworm was a victim of arson, and it burned to the ground. Gloria and Jeff were devastated until they received word of a seven million dollar insurance settlement. Kevin asked Gloria for money to help him keep from losing his house, and Chloe and Chelsea asked her to finance a new designer business they were forming, but Jeffrey talked her into investing in a racehorse instead. Gloria lost a bundle when the horse got sick and could not race. She then convinced Chloe and Chelsea to let her join their design business. The three of them made a presentation to Jabot and they were hired as collaborators for Jabot Cosmetics Face Fashion division. Gloria left for Europe to promote the line.
Gloria returned month's later after a successful campaign with boutiques all over Europe who are interested in Chelsea's designs, saying that Jeffrey was at the hospital getting X-rays after a fall. Chloe let Gloria know that she and Kevin had separated due to his return to the wrong side of the law by committing home burglaries. Gloria lit into Kevin, who claimed he had no other choice being broke. Gloria admitted that she had squirreled some of the insurance settlement away from Jeffrey and could have helped.
Gloria showed up again in Genoa City after spending Christmas 2013 in Bora Bora. She did her best to influence Kevin and Chloe into getting back together, then flirted with the young handsome detective, Alex Chavez.
Back at work for Chelsea by Jabot, Gloria arranged for "My Fair Wedding" TV star David Tutera to meet with Lauren. But when Lauren failed to show and he started to leave, Gloria thought fast and told him that Lauren had arranged a Bridal Expo Raffle with the prize being a bridal consultation with Tutera. When Neil Winters and Leslie Michaelson walked in, Gloria announced that they had won, and they kept him there working on wedding plans until Lauren arrived.
In November 2014, Gloria traveled to L.A. to attend the Forrester Creations fashion show, renewed acquaintances with Eric Forrester, and while checking out the rich men, sampled some of Pam Forrester's infamous lemon bars.
Come the new year, Gloria was devastated to find out that Michael had prostate cancer.
Gloria warned Chelsea that with the merger of Jabot and Newman to watch her back with Victoria in charge.
Gloria returned to town, fresh from her breakup with Jeffrey in France, where he had finally lost all their money, and Sharon had taken Gloria's job in her absence. After one night with Michael and Lauren, Michael checked Gloria into the athletic club, then told Kevin it was his turn to keep her. Gloria discovered that Fenmore's was in financial trouble and told Lauren that she could help her. Jack offered Lauren a merger, but she refused. Gloria offered to help Jack get Fenmore's in exchange for a piece of the company, then she sabotaged two of Lauren's investment deals. Jack and Gloria met by chance at a bar, got drunk and ended up in bed together. Jack refused to believe anything had happened, but Gloria convinced him that it had. As Lauren's last resort, Jack was successful with the takeover gaining 49% of Fenmore's. Jack reneged on his deal with Gloria, so Gloria went to GC Buzz giving an anonymous interview accusing Jack of demanding sex for employment. Lucky for Jack, it was pre-taped, and was cut off by Devon before his name was exposed. To shut her up, Jack gave Gloria a job as his receptionist. Gloria told Michael that it was at least a foot in the door, and Ashley was appalled, considering Gloria had once ruined their father and nearly ruined Jabot. Chloe was not thrilled having Gloria live with her and Kevin, and presented Gloria with a bill for her luxury grocery items.
Surprising to even Jack, Gloria and Jack became lovers and co-conspirators. Jack stole an endorsement deal with professional hockey from Brash & Sassy by exposing Billy's affair with Phyllis and his gambling history. But Victoria got hold of a copy of the Jabot harassment accusation video. Watching it with Billy, they recognized the voice as Gloria, and in the complete version, Jack had been named. Victoria used it to convince Jack to back off from the hockey deal. When Victor suddenly left town, leaving Newman with Abby as Acting CEO, Jack decided it was time to strike. He discovered Abby was having second thoughts about a new business incubator she was creating behind Victor's back, and trying to unload a warehouse she had just bought, so he talked her into selling it to him and going partners. Jack told Ashley he had purchased the warehouse to convert into a lab for her. Jack also told Ashley about his relationship with Gloria.
Gloria was surprised and happy for Kevin when he broke the news that Chloe's daughter Bella was proven to be his by a DNA test, and Bella was living with him. But Gloria was heartbroken when Kevin broke the news that he had decided to take Bella and start a new life in Oregon, promising phone calls and visits.
When Jack asked Gloria to make a play for Dina's man Graham, she was disappointed to realize that her relationship with Jack was over, but rationalized that they both had gotten what they wanted. But after meeting Graham, she was intrigued, and more so upon learning that he had been made heir to the bulk of Dina Mergeron's estate. They had a few dinner dates. Nikki suggested Gloria set her sights on Victor.
Gloria was disappointed when Jack faded out of her love life. But as long as he was CEO, she had his back nevertheless. She also worked for Billy when he became CEO, and gave him a lot of crap that he never lived up to Jack or John's legacy. But loyal Gloria eventually did her best to cover for Billy too. One of her final duties at Jabot was to warn Billy of the board meeting he was walking into. Billy was discovered to have been embezzling money to cover his gambling debts and voted out as CEO. Traci stepped in temporarily, and Gloria was replaced by a bewildered Asian guy named Ted.
Three years later, Gloria showed up at the Chancellor estate where Kevin and Chloe were living, lonely for her family. Kevin accused her of being in trouble. She claimed to have been working for a major studio film producer at a boutique firm in Hollywood, had been cut out of a deal and fired. She moved in. Viewers saw her put something into a vase in the living room. It turned out to be a flash drive containing video proof that the CFO at the Newman subsidiary in LA had been siphoning funds and had deposited 2.3 million in an account in the Grand Caymans. Gloria intended to blackmail him, but Newman CEO Victoria already knew. Victoria covered it up so Victor wouldnt find out, got the CFO to retire after 20 years on the job, and the money returned. So Gloria had lost out on the big payoff.
Months later when Summer took a position as creative director with Marchetti fashions in Milan, Sally moved into her job as President of JCV, and Gloria finagled her way into taking Sallys job as Laurens assistant. But when Lauren discovered that Sally had arranged it all to get Summers job, she fired Sally. Gloria then coerced Lauren into making her Interim President of JCV claiming to be talented, hard-working, creative, a natural, had been a fashion consultant at Jabot, worked with Chloe and Chelsea on their line, and was an Extreme Catwalk judge.
