Randi threatened to tell the world that she had killed Henry North, and that Jesse had covered up the murder, if Matthew was taken from her. Natalia was stunned by Randi's revelation. Jesse ushered Natalia to the hallway for a private talk while Randi took the baby from Angie. The baby began to fuss when he sensed Randi's distress. Frankie coaxed Randi to hand Matthew to him, so that he could change the baby's diaper.
After Frankie left the room with Matthew, Randi insisted that the baby belonged with her. Angie pointed out that Randi couldn't keep Matthew without breaking the law. Randi wouldn't be able to give Matthew the kind of life that he deserved if she was forever looking over her shoulder. She begged Randi to trust them to take care of her.
Frankie returned to the living room to talk to his wife. He confided that he had fallen in love with her all over again the first time that he had seen her with the baby. Frankie was eager to see the same joy on Randi's face that he had seen that day. However, he didn't want to live with the fear that their child could be taken away from them. Randi confessed that she'd known, deep down inside, that someone had been looking for Matthew and that she would eventually have to give him up.
Jesse explained the circumstances of Henry's death to Natalia. He admitted that he had felt compelled to help Randi because he feared that no one would have believed her story. Natalia confided that she probably would have killed Henry herself, if she had been given the opportunity. When Jesse and Natalia returned to the apartment, Randi was resigned to saying goodbye to Matthew. However, Randi couldn't bring herself to do it at the police station.
Randi held Matthew close for several moments and then gently handed him to Angie. After Angie, Jesse, and Natalia left with the baby, Frankie comforted his heartbroken wife.
While Jake completed some paperwork for Amanda's discharge, Amanda talked about her vivid dream of Trevor. She couldn't believe that she had dreamed of seeing Trevor receiving an intravenous treatment in a secluded part of the hospital. Jake agreed that it seemed odd that she had dreamed that her son had received an IV. He suggested that perhaps it hadn't been a dream, after all. Jake decided to take Amanda to the room where she had seen Trevor. He had hoped that it would spark a memory.
A nurse poked her head into the room when she saw Jake and Amanda. The nurse commented that she wasn't used to seeing doctors in the nearly deserted wing of the hospital. Jake realized the nurse had seen something. When he questioned her about it, the nurse revealed that Frankie Hubbard had been in the exam room the previous evening.
Amanda and Jake went to Frankie and Randi's apartment. Jake decided to pick the lock when no one answered the door. Amanda admitted that she was uncomfortable breaking into the apartment, but Jake insisted that it was necessary. Moments later, a search turned up the outfit that Trevor had been wearing when he had disappeared.
At Wildwind, David held Liza at gunpoint while she told him everything that she knew about Jake's plans for Amanda's baby. David was stunned when he realized that the plot to keep him from his son had involved Taylor, Opal, and Tad. He demanded to know where his son was. Liza reluctantly told David about the plot to reunite Amanda with the baby. David seethed with rage when he learned that Trevor had been snatched before Opal could "rescue" him.
David insisted that Jake didn't love Amanda. He accused Jake of marrying Amanda in order to "screw" with him. Liza tried to escape, but David stopped her. He vowed that he would track down his son and then "take care" of the Martin brothers "once and for all." Liza accused David of trying to use his own child to get back at others. She urged David to stop before he wound up a lonely and bitter old man.
David insisted that Amanda's baby was his son, not Jake's. He screamed at Liza to leave. After Liza ran out, David called the hospital to see if Jake was on duty. When he was told that Jake had left, David demanded that Jake be paged and ordered to return to the hospital immediately. A short time later, David entered the hospital.
David was on the warpath when he was told that Jake had not arrived. David prowled the corridors until he tracked down Joe. While David questioned Joe about Jake, a news break caught David's attention; a baby had been recovered. David decided to go to the police station.
Marissa went to the cemetery, where she bumped into JR and Little A at Babe's gravesite. While Little A visited his mother's grave, JR talked to Marissa. He revealed that he understood why Marissa wouldn't want to be around him after the way that he had treated her. Marissa didn't hold the incident at Wildwind against JR; she recognized that he had been hurting.
Marissa was eager to help JR, but he remained tight-lipped about his cancer diagnosis. He cryptically revealed that he felt as if he were living a nightmare that he couldn't wake up from. JR admitted that he had gone to see his father. JR was frustrated because Adam's life was a mess and his home wasn't a proper place to raise a child. Marissa reminded JR that Little A wasn't being raised under Adam's roof.
JR snapped that there weren't any guarantees in life. He pointed to Babe as an example. Before Marissa could respond, JR gathered Little A and left.
Taylor went to see Tad. She immediately sensed that Tad was troubled, so she assured him that they would soon find Trevor. When she realized that she had guessed incorrectly, she invited Tad to talk to her about what was bothering him. Tad asked Taylor to drop it, because he had made a promise not to discuss it. He changed the subject by confiding that since the shooting, there were times that he felt overwhelmed by the thoughts in his head. He was eager for a distraction.
Taylor smiled as she approached Tad to kiss him softly on the lips and then hug him. Afterwards, they sat down to watch a telenovela. A short time later, JR and Little A stopped by. Tad asked to speak to JR alone; he explained that he had business to discuss with JR. Taylor smiled as she gathered her things. She stopped to quickly introduce herself to JR and then left. After Taylor was gone, JR sent Little A to find Kathy.
Once they were alone, JR asked Tad to watch over Little A when JR died. Tad refused to entertain the idea that JR would die. Tad urged him to see an oncologist for treatment. Tad agreed to promise anything as long as JR fought the cancer. JR appreciated Tad's support.
After JR left, Liza arrived. She was frantic to find Jake. Tad was shocked when Liza disclosed the details of her encounter with David. She warned Tad that David had a gun. Tad assured Liza that he would take care of everything. Tad was relieved when Jake and Amanda arrived shortly after Liza's departure.
Jake and Amanda were excited because they had a lead on Trevor. Tad announced that he might have found Trevor and then pointed to the television. Jake and Amanda watched a news report about a baby being found. Moments later Jake, Amanda, and Tad raced to the police station, where Taylor joined them .
Jake wanted to get their story straight before they talked to Jesse, but Amanda was too anxious to see if the baby that had been found was her son. She charged into Jesse's office where Angie stood, holding Trevor in her arms. Amanda sighed with relief when she saw her baby. David stepped forward to ask, "Don't you mean our baby?"
At the Slater residence, Erica quietly crept through the house, searching for Zach. When Zach suddenly loomed before her, Erica jumped. She wondered where he had been. Zach claimed that he had been in the backyard, but Erica didn't believe him. She revealed that she had not seen his car when she had pulled into the driveway. Zach explained that his car had been parked in the garage.
Meanwhile, Kendall hid in the children's closet listening to the conversation. Erica and Zach went into the children's bedroom, so that Erica could visit with her grandsons. While she played with the boys, Erica asked if Zach had spoken to Kendall. Zach shook his head; he insisted that Kendall continued to refuse to see visitors. When Erica brought up Liza and the appeal, Zach confided that Liza might resign as Kendall's attorney. According to Zach, Liza had cited personal reasons for the decision.
Erica admitted that she didn't trust Liza. When Erica insisted on moving in with Zach and the boys, Zach was surprisingly receptive. After Erica dashed off to pack, Kendall emerged from the closet. She wanted to know why Zach had agreed to Erica's demands. Zach confessed that he thought it was a good idea because it would force Kendall to remain in her room instead of constantly wandering around the house and risking discovery. He also added that Erica would keep Liza at a safe distance.
A short time later, Erica returned. Zach was surprised by how fast she had packed her belongings. Moments later, the doorbell rang; it was Liza. Liza had decided to continue representing Kendall. Kendall lurked in the hallway, eavesdropping.
JR went to see Dr. Alison Khan, his new oncologist. She had reviewed his case and had consulted with doctors at Sloan-Kettering Hospital. She invited JR to ask questions. JR wanted to know one thing: when he could start treatment.
Amanda and Jake entered the interrogation room at the police station. They were relieved to see Jesse and Angie holding Trevor. Amanda exclaimed, "My baby!" Just then, David appeared and said, "Don't you mean our baby?" Amanda's expression of relief turned to one of horror.
Amanda asked to hold the baby, but David insisted that he should hold the baby. Jesse said that no one would hold the baby until he got answers. Amanda and Jake then admitted that Trevor was Amanda and David's son. Meanwhile, Trevor was crying. Amanda begged Jesse to let her hold the baby. Jesse gave her permission because he felt it was in Trevor's best interest.
Angie supervised as Amanda held her son. Amanda told Trevor that she loved him. Amanda noticed that Trevor looked great and assumed that someone took good care of him. Angie revealed that Randi had found the baby at the church. Angie admitted that Randi grew attached to Trevor and it was hard for her to give him up. Amanda was grateful that Randi treated her son well. Amanda then asked Angie if she was in big trouble. Angie was not sure, but she hoped that Amanda, not David, would get Trevor. Amanda wanted to flee the police station with Trevor. Angie advised her that running was not the answer.
Just as Jesse was about to question Jake and David, Tad and Taylor showed up at the police station. Jesse asked everyone for details on Trevor. Jake explained that he had faked Trevor's death to keep the baby away from David. Jake stated that David threatened to steal Trevor from Amanda, so he wanted to make sure that Trevor would remain with Amanda. David was furious and demanded that Jake, Amanda, Tad, and Taylor be arrested on a litany of charges.
Jesse had Jake handcuffed and arrested, since Jake admitted to faking the baby's death. Jesse said that he would investigate the case further and decide if more arrests needed to be made. Amanda and Angie appeared with the baby. Jesse said that Amanda needed to give the child back until he straightened everything out. As Natalia took Trevor from Amanda's arms, Amanda cried.
David demanded to know what would happen to Trevor. Jesse stated that he had to "play it by the book." Jesse further explained that Trevor would go into foster care until custody was determined. David smugly told Amanda that the baby would eventually go home with him. David then left the police station with an air of confidence.
Tad and Taylor begged Jesse to let them be Trevor's foster parents. Jesse said no, because they were too close to the case. Tad feared that David would win custody. Jesse hated to admit that David was in the right. Tad noted that David looked overly confident when he left.
Trevor cried uncontrollably and Amanda could hear it. Amanda asked Jesse if she could comfort her son. Angie answered for Jesse and said yes. After Amanda calmed Trevor, she visited Jake in his cell. She wept as he held her hands.
Liza told Zach and Erica that she was staying on Kendall's case. Erica was not pleased about the news and left the room. Liza assured Zach that she did not want to seduce him. She stated that she was a woman of her word, and wanted to see the case to the end due to her principles. He respected her reasons.
After Liza left, Erica warned Zach that Liza would not stop hitting on him. Zach stated that he was not interested in Liza. He swore that their relationship was professional.
Kendall could hear Erica talking to herself over the baby monitor. Erica vowed to thwart Liza's attempts to bed Zach. Erica then told her grandsons that she would take good care of them. Kendall seemed pleased.
Ryan arrived at Zach's house. Ryan announced that he was taking Spike home with him. Ryan did not want Zach raising Spike. Erica was shocked that Ryan wanted to remove Spike from his home, and demanded answers. Ryan said that Zach "switched teams." Zach explained to Erica that he took a loan from Adam. Ryan felt that, since Kendall's arrest Zach had become a different man. Ryan did not trust Zach.
Ryan entered Spike's bedroom. Ryan informed the boy that he was moving in with him. Ryan promised Spike that he could visit Ian whenever he wished. Kendall overheard that on the monitor and looked panicked.
Ryan walked out of the house with Spike. Erica followed Ryan to try to talk him out of leaving. Meanwhile, Kendall emerged from her room. Zach told her to go back into hiding, but she refused. She wanted her son to remain with her. Zach urged her to relax, but she threatened to reveal herself to Erica and Ryan if Zach did not get Spike back.
JR met with an oncologist. The doctor said that the best mode of treatment for JR's cancer would be chemotherapy. JR inquired about the side effects and the doctor explained that every patient reacted differently to the treatment. He told the doctor that he wished to keep his cancer a secret. The doctor encouraged him to garner support from his family. JR explained that he could not appear weak because some of his family members would try to gain custody of his son. The doctor understood.
Marissa arrived at Tad's house to see Krystal. Krystal told Marissa that her trip to Africa was great. Krystal urged Marissa to watch Erica's television show that would chronicle the trip.
Marissa informed Krystal that she was worried about JR. Marissa explained that JR's behavior was erratic and unpredictable. Marissa wondered if JR was drinking again. Krystal was concerned for JR, as well; however, Krystal was more concerned for Marissa because she moved into Wildwind. Krystal warned Marissa that living with David was a bad idea.
JR arrived at Tad's house to pick up Little Adam. JR saw Marissa and apologized for his odd behavior. He told her that they were moving too fast. He requested that they slow their relationship down because he was not over Babe's death yet. Marissa understood and agreed.
JR thanked Krystal for watching his son. Krystal said that it was her pleasure to spend time with her grandson. She offered to have Little Adam spend a few days with her. JR noted that he had a busy schedule and took her up on the offer. JR appreciated that Krystal did not want to take Little Adam away from him, like David and Adam did.
JR told Tad that he would start chemotherapy soon. JR said that he was ready to fight the cancer, but he did not want anyone to know about the illness. Tad was certain that JR would win his fight with cancer. Tad promised to be JR's support system. They embraced.
David saw Liza at the hospital. David gloated that he had a plan to get revenge on the Martins that no one would expect.
JR and Tad went to the hospital for JR's first chemotherapy treatment. The doctor explained that JR would receive the treatment through a small catheter near his collarbone. JR was nervous, so the doctor gave him a sedative. As JR fell asleep, he called out for Marissa. JR then recalled all of the happy times he had shared with Marissa.
When JR woke up, he was out of sorts. Tad told JR that the treatment was over. Tad then revealed that JR was talking about Marissa in his sleep. JR could not believe that he fell in love again. Tad encouraged JR to fight for his life and for Marissa.
Amanda visited Krystal at Tad's house. Amanda was a mess and said that she did not know where else to go. Krystal inquired why Amanda was distraught. Amanda explained that Jake was in jail and there was a good chance David would raise her baby. Krystal reminded Amanda that her baby was dead, so Amanda revealed the truth. Krystal was shocked to learn that Jake and Amanda had faked Trevor's death to keep him from David. Amanda assumed that Krystal thought she was a sick, twisted person. Krystal said that she understood Amanda's actions. Krystal added that she had made many bad decisions in her life, so she could not judge Amanda.
Liza arrived at Tad's. Liza apologized to Amanda for telling David the truth about Trevor. Liza explained that David kidnapped her and held her at gunpoint. Liza said that she had no choice but to tell David the truth. Amanda was furious. Krystal told Amanda that Liza was not the enemy. Liza announced that she had a plan.
Marissa entered Wildwind and found David speaking with his lawyer. David was excited to see Marissa. He told Marissa that her baby brother was alive. She looked shocked, so he explained that the Martin family faked the baby's death, like he suspected. David was very confident that he would gain full custody of the baby. Marissa warned him that Pennsylvania usually awarded sole custody to the mother, but David was not worried. Marissa then got a text m essage from Liza and left Wildwind.
Marissa arrived at Tad's home. Liza, Krystal, Amanda, and Tad tried to convince Marissa to spy on David while she lived at Wildwind. Marissa was reluctant to spy on her father. Amanda said that Marissa was her last hope. Amanda wanted Marissa to find dirt on David, so he could not win custody of Trevor. Tad told Marissa that it was her decision, and she had to live with the consequences.
Tad apologized to Krystal for not telling her about Trevor. Krystal understood why Tad could not trust her with the truth. She apologized to him for ruining their marriage. He said that they both played a part in their failed marriage.
JR arrived at Wildwind to see Marissa, but ran into David instead. David told JR the news about Trevor. JR assumed that David would seek revenge. David said that JR would do the same, if their roles were reversed. JR claimed that he had changed, but David did not believe it. David urged JR to stay away from Marissa.
Marissa entered Wildwind. She announced to David and JR that she planned to stay at Wildwind indefinitely. David was pleased and then left the house. JR was annoyed by Marissa's announcement. Marissa explained that she was helping Amanda. Marissa said that she wanted to make sure David fought fair in the custody battle.
Marissa told JR that she was tired of his erratic behavior. She assumed that he did not want to be with her. He corrected her and exclaimed, "You're all I think about! I can't get you out of my heart!" Marissa looked surprised, but happy. Then, they kissed.
David found Amanda and proposed a deal. He said that he would drop the custody suit, if Amanda moved into Wildwind and raised Trevor with him. Amanda was shocked by the proposition, and said she would never leave Jake. David urged Amanda to put Trevor's needs before Jake's. David then offered to drop the charges against everyone involved, if Amanda moved in with him.
Kendall was furious with Zach for letting Ryan take Spike. Zach said that he could not hide Kendall and prove Annie's guilt with Ryan lurking around. Kendall did not care, because she wanted both of her sons to be together.
Erica and Ryan stood outside of Zach's house. Erica urged Ryan not to take Spike. Ryan said that Zach had changed, so Ryan did not trust Zach around Spike. After Ryan left, Erica tried to get back into the house, but the door was locked. Zach eventually let Erica back inside.
Erica received a call from Kendall. Kendall pretended that she was in prison. Erica was elated to hear from Kendall. Kendall asked about her sons. Erica informed Kendall that Ryan took Spike. Kendall begged her mother to change Ryan's mind.
Erica visited Ryan at his penthouse. Erica said that she had spoken to Kendall, and Kendall wanted Spike to move back home. Ryan refused, because he did not want Spike near Zach. Ryan thought that Zach's actions were suspicious, and he wondered if Zach was up to something. Erica agreed that Zach was acting strangely, and assumed that Zach had a secret plan. Suddenly, Erica fainted.
Ryan took Erica to the couch and gave her water. He wanted to take her to the hospital, but she refused. She claimed that she was fine, and blamed her collapse on forgetting to eat. She then told him about her trip to Africa and how it changed her view on life. She reminded him that they shared an amazing goodbye kiss before her trip. She wondered if they would ever talk about the kiss. He stated that there was nothing to talk about. He noted that they shared a perfect night.
After Erica left, Ryan watched footage of Erica on his computer. He smiled the entire time he looked at Erica.
Kendall took a nap and dreamed about the night that Stuart was murdered. Kendall remembered dropping the gun and running away from the mansion, while Stuart was still alive.
Erica returned to Zach's house and found a glass with lipstick on it. Erica demanded to know if a woman was in the house. Zach told Erica that she was there to watch Ian, not him. Erica was frustrated with Zach, and decided to move out.
Kendall told Zach that she recovered memories from the night Stuart died. Kendall was certain that she did not kill Stuart.
Frankie poured a cup of coffee for Randi and then handed it to her. He made small talk by asking her how she had slept. Randi admitted that she had heard Frankie tossing and turning all night. Randi bristled when Frankie began talking about Matthew. She made it clear that she didn't want to talk about the baby. Frankie wondered if Randi didn't want to talk to anyone about Matthew, or just him.
Later, Frankie emerged from the bedroom wearing a suit. Randi was curled up on the sofa. Frankie was excited because he was meeting with the hospital's board about going back to work. Randi resented Frankie's upbeat mood. When he asked her about returning to Fusion, Randi snapped back that Frankie was trying to hard to make everything okay.
Moments later, Brot arrived to pick up Frankie. Brot immediately sensed the tension in the room. However, Randi and Frankie made an effort to be more civil toward each other. Before Frankie left, he suggested that they have a movie marathon when he returned home. Randi smiled as she agreed to Frankie's idea.
At the hospital, Frankie confessed that he felt as if he were always saying the wrong thing to Randi. Frankie confided that he appreciated his father's help, but he resented that Randi felt more comfortable with Jesse than with him. Angie approached moments later to inform Frankie that the board meeting had been canceled because David had been unavailable.
Angie realized that Frankie hadn't heard that Matthew had been identified as Amanda and David's son, Trevor. Frankie was stunned when his mother filled him in. He also feared how Randi would react to the news. After Frankie and Brot left the hospital, Angie called Jesse. Angie was worried about the stress that Frankie and Randi were under; she wanted Jesse to check on them.
Randi was reading the newspaper when Natalia dropped by with breakfast. Randi was curious if Natalia knew that Amanda was the baby's mother. When Natalia nodded, Randi asked if Amanda and Trevor had been reunited. Randi was horrified as Natalia reluctantly revealed that Trevor had been placed into foster care and that David stood a good chance of gaining full custody of his son.
Randi demanded to be taken to the police station; she insisted that Trevor should be with her rather than with strangers. Natalia urged Randi to reconsider, but Randi refused. She was determined to rescue Trevor from David's clutches. Randi stopped in her tracks when Frankie walked through the front door.
Frankie immediately realized that Randi had discovered the truth about the baby. Randi's distress turned to fury when Frankie asked if Randi was okay. Randi screamed at Natalia and Frankie to leave. When they didn't budge, Randi resorted to throwing things around the apartment.
At the police station, Jesse questioned Liza about her involvement in the plot to keep David and Trevor apart. He warned Liza that David could make things very difficult for a lot of people. When Jake joined them, he immediately noticed Amanda's absence. Jesse stepped away while Jake asked Liza where Amanda was.
Liza apologized for revealing the truth to David. Jake assured Liza that he did not blame her. He confessed that he was more concerned about how Amanda was holding up. Jake felt terrible that Amanda had to endure such heartache. He turned to Liza for help. Liza didn't pull any punches as she explained that their fate rested in David's hands.
At the Martin residence, Amanda stood on the stoop while she replayed David's offer in her mind. Amanda was distraught as she tried to decide whether or not to move into Wildwind in exchange for David's agreement to drop the charges. Seconds later, Tad threw open the front door. Amanda rushed into Tad's arms as she told him about David's ultimatum.
Tad was relieved when Amanda confirmed that she had turned down David's proposition. As Tad assured Amanda that she had made the right decision, Krystal entered the foyer. Krystal warned Amanda that David could not be trusted; he would stop at nothing to get what he wanted. After Krystal left, Tad tried to ease Amanda's fears. He was certain that they would find a way to work things out with David.
Liza tried to persuade Jake to accept David's offer. Jake growled that he'd rather rot in jail than give in to David's demands. Amanda agreed; Jake was delighted by Amanda's sudden appearance. Jake's mood soured when Amanda shared the details of her recent encounter with David. Jake insisted that Amanda would never move into Wildwind with that "asshat ."
Liza offered to talk to the district attorney; however, she didn't hold out much hope that anything would change. Amanda wanted to tell the D.A. her side of the story, but Liza thought that it was a bad idea. She advised Amanda to go home with Jake and then promised them that she would call as soon as she had any new information. After Jake and Amanda left the police station, Tad and Liza talked to D.A. Willis. Willis explained that David had certain rights as a father. Willis advised Liza to cut a deal with David. According to Willis, David would prevail in court.
When Jake and Amanda returned home, Jake realized that Amanda was exhausted. He guided her to the sofa and cuddled up with her. Jake promised Amanda that he would find a way to get Trevor back. A short time later, Amanda woke up to find Jake gone.
Jesse arrived at Frankie and Randi's apartment to find Brot, Frankie, and Natalia gathered in the hallway. Natalia explained that Randi had tossed them out of the apartment when she had learned that David would likely be awarded custody of Trevor. When Jesse offered to speak to Randi, Frankie realized that Randi probably wouldn't talk to anyone else.
Randi looked up when Jesse entered the apartment. Jesse joined her on the sofa as he apologized for playing a role in helping David to gain custody of Trevor. Randi understood that Jesse hadn't intended for David to get Trevor. Randi confided that she was worried that Frankie thought of her differently since learning that she had killed Henry North. Jesse assured Randi that she didn't have any reason to doubt Frankie's love for her.
As Jesse held Randi, Angie walked in. Angie didn't say anything as she sat down next to Randi and then wrapped her arms around her daughter-in-law.
Natalia, Frankie, and Brot sat at ConFusion's bar. Brot admitted that he thought it had been a mistake for Jesse to talk to Randi. Brot insisted that Randi should be working through her problems with her husband, not Jesse. Natalia didn't understand why it mattered who helped Randi. Natalia thought that the important thing was that Randi felt comfortable talking to someone.
Brot and Natalia debated the issue until Frankie spoke up. He agreed with his sister; if Jesse could help Randi, then they should let him. Brot continued to grumble, prompting Natalia to snap back that Randi wasn't bulletproof. According to Natalia, Randi couldn't just shake it off and move forward. Brot didn't change his mind. Eventually, Natalia threw her hands up in defeat and then stomped out of the bar.
At Wildwind, David was confident that he would have custody of his son by the end of the day. When Marissa entered the living room, David announced that he intended to name his son David. Marissa wondered what David had planned, but David refused to share the details. Instead he likened his plans to a game of chess, and bragged that he was in control.
David's ebullient mood was tested when Krystal arrived at Wildwind. Krystal revealed that David had offered to drop the charges in exchange for Amanda's agreement to live at Wildwind. Krystal insisted that a child shouldn't be anywhere near David's home. David laughed as he informed Krystal that she didn't get it; the baby was already on his way to Wildwind. David refused to apologize for claiming his son.
Krystal pleaded with David to reconsider what he was doing before his obsession for fatherhood ruined his son's life. Krystal believed that the baby should remain with Amanda and Jake, who would be a wonderful father. David's temper flared. He reminded Krystal that the baby was his son, not Jake's. David blamed Krystal for his obsession to be a father because she had denied him the opportunity to raise his children.
David vowed that he would be a better parent than Krystal. Unlike Krystal, David would never sell his child, regardless of the circumstances. Marissa put a stop to David's hurtful words and ushered her mother to the door. Krystal urged Marissa to move out of Wildwind before it was too late. Marissa insisted that she knew what she was doing.
When Marissa returned to the living room, David was waiting. He smiled with satisfaction, certain that Marissa was firmly in his camp. A short time later, Marissa handed David a package that had been delivered. It contained a contract, which outlined David's agreement to drop all criminal charges in exchange for full custody of his son. David asked Marissa to witness the document.
Marissa reluctantly signed it after David assured her that he didn't want to cut Amanda out of the baby's life.
A short time later, Jake kicked in the front door of Wildwind. David appeared unconcerned as Jake pulled out a gun. David laughed when Jake announced that he intended to reclaim his family. David reminded Jake that killing him would not accomplish anything. Jake disagreed; Amanda would be reunited with Trevor.
The argument was cut short when Amanda rushed into the living room, begging Jake to put the gun down. When Jake refused, Amanda revealed that she had decided to move in with David.
Marissa arrived at the Martin residence with David's contract in hand. Krystal and Liza were concerned because they couldn't find Amanda and Jake. As they discussed David's ultimatum, Marissa assured everyone that she would be at Wildwind to watch over Amanda and the baby. Krystal pointed out that it didn't matter where they stood on the issue, only Amanda and Jake could decide what to do.
JR walked unnoticed into the Chandler living room just as Adam asked Scott to be his best man. Scott tried to decline, but Adam said that there was no worthier substitute for Stuart than Stuart's son. When Scott continued to balk, JR spoke up and said that Scott shouldn't reject Adam's offer to spare JR's feelings. At that moment, JR got lightheaded and had to sit down. Everyone thought that JR was actually drunk, and bashed him for it.
After his head cleared, JR fought back and said that Scott's beliefs were no longer valid, since Scott had supported Annie. Scott tried to dispute JR's claim, but JR announced that he no longer cared about the Chandler family, and walked out. Adam told Scott not to be concerned, because JR had gone down the path of alienating his family before. The doorbell rang, and Adam went to answer the door.
Annie took the opportunity to admit that she had suggested Scott as a best man. Scott still believed that JR needed to be included, but Annie pointed out that the long-standing feud between JR and his father poisoned the family. She said that everyone deserved to be happy, and that life might be better if JR moved away. Annie then suggested that she, Scott, and Adam made the perfect family unit.
The front door slammed, and Adam instructed the visitor to take things into the living room. Annie was delighted when she realized that her wedding dress had arrived. Adam and Scott stepped out into the parlor, and Adam revealed that he'd also wanted Scott as his best man. Adam said that because Scott had helped him through one of the darkest times of his life, it made the most sense. With that, Scott accepted the honor.
An invitation to Adam and Annie's wedding arrived at the Slater residence. Zach believed that Annie's guard would be down while planning the wedding, and he told Kendall that he would use that to his advantage. Erica received a phone call, which pierced their conversation, and Zach and Kendall heard Erica say that Zach had been acting irrationally. As Zach left the safe room, Ryan asked Erica if she'd been able to figure out the cause. Erica said that she was still in the dark, but wouldn't give up. Zach startled Erica when he asked her what she wanted to know.
Erica said that she and Ryan were concerned about Zach. Zach escorted her out of the nursery so that Kendall couldn't overhear the conversation. Downstairs, Erica pointed at the loan Zach had taken from Adam and Zach's lack of protest when Ryan took Spike out of the house as strange behavior. Zach thanked Erica for her help with Ian, but said that his life was off-limits. He walked out. Moments later, the doorbell rang, and Erica found Ryan on the other side. She briefed him on her conversation with Zach, and both agreed that they needed to find out what Zach had to hide.
Erica told Ryan that she believed Zach was having an affair with Liza. Ryan didn't care and said that they should both stay out of Zach's personal life. Erica said that she wouldn't stand by while Liza preyed on Kendall's husband. Erica's phone rang as Ryan prepared to leave, and she was delighted to receive another phone call from Kendall.
Kendall asked her mother if any progress had been made in getting Spike moved back to the Slater house, but Erica didn't have any additional news on that front. Erica decided to tell Kendall that she suspected that Zach was having an affair, but Ryan took the phone from Erica before Erica could complete the statement.
Although Kendall didn't want to talk to Ryan, she took the moment to demand an explanation for his removal of Spike from the house. Ryan said that he didn't want to have the conversation over the phone and promised to visit her. Kendall said she didn't want visitors and that she needed Ryan to be honest. Ryan refused to get wrapped up in the suspicions and accusations, and said the only thing he would do wa s take care of his son.
The call ended, and Erica realized that she had missed the broadcast of her visit to Africa. Ryan was certain that the special was amazing, and then remarked that the visit had changed Erica. Erica hoped that she had changed for the better, and Ryan told her that she had a whole new glow about her. As Kendall watched, Ryan tenderly caressed Erica's face.
After Marissa delivered David's contract to the Martin household, Tad and Liza debated whether or not Amanda should agree to David's terms. Krystal jumped in and said that the only opinions that mattered were those of Amanda and Jake. Tad then considered the possibility that Jake and Amanda had already gone to David with a deal of their own.
Liza hoped that Amanda and Jake had gone for a drive to think things over. Tad said that since Jake's worse nightmare had become reality, Jake felt like he had nothing left to lose. Marissa was rattled by that admission and raced out of the house. Krystal asked Tad what he thought Jake would do, and Tad said that Jake went to Wildwind to kill David.
Amanda arrived at Wildwind and found Jake with a gun trained on David. She begged Jake to put the gun down, but Jake wanted to remove the control that David held over them. Amanda told Jake that she had changed her mind and would move into Wildwind so that she could see her son. Jake didn't believe that things would be that easy. Instead, Jake stated that with one bullet, they could remove the problem from their lives.
Jake continued to assert that the only way they would have their lives back would be if they took David out of the equation, but Amanda used the love she and her husband shared to dismantle that reasoning. She finally got through to Jake and he lowered the gun just as Marissa arrived. Marissa asked what she'd walked in on, and David told her that Jake was headed home to help Amanda pack.
Tad started to head out to Wildwind in an attempt to stop Jake from doing something that couldn't be undone. Liza stopped him and said that it was about time Jake handled his own business. They were all relieved when Jake and Amanda walked in the door, but the relief was short-lived. Amanda announced her move to Wildwind, and Jake hoped someone would explain why it was a bad idea.
Krystal told Amanda that when she lived at Wildwind, David took everything that Krystal had and then some. Amanda insisted that she would be fine because she wasn't scared of David and had Jake on her side. Amanda urged Jake to battle with her against anything that David could throw at them, and to believe that they would be victorious. Jake apologized for failing Amanda, but she told him that he had given her exactly what she wanted -- a family -- and said that one day soon, they would all be together again. Jake agreed, and asked Liza to accompany them to Wildwind to make sure that David stuck to his word.
David used Marissa as a sounding board about what to change in the house for the baby. Marissa appeared more uncomfortable as David continued to gush over his son. The final blow was when David asked Marissa to move out of the room next to the nursery without a second thought as to how his son's arrival would affect his daughter.
JR stopped by the Martin house and when Krystal asked after his well-being, JR thanked her for not making the assumption that he had been drinking. Tad asked Krystal to check on Jenny, but JR knew that it was a distraction. JR said that he needed to be truthful with Krystal. Without too many details, JR made Krystal promise that if anything happened to him, she would take care of Little Adam. Although Krystal was taken aback by the grim tone of the conversation, she agreed to JR's request and thanked him for trusting her with his son.
Krystal left the room, and Tad asked JR if he'd changed his mind about fighting. JR replied that he wanted to be realistic, in case something happened to him. He went on to say that Tad was the only similarity he wanted between his childhood and his son's, as Tad had always been a good father to JR. Tad promised to always be there for Little Adam and JR.
Annie changed back into her clothes after she tried on her wedding gown, and then talked the assistant's ear off with her random thoughts. The assistant's phone rang but Annie's chatter covered up the assistant's exit to take the call. She realized that the assistant hadn't zipped up her dress in the same moment she noticed someone else was in the room. When she turned around, Annie was startled to see Zach.
Zach told Annie that Ryan had taken Spike and moved him into the penthouse. Annie pointed out that Ryan's actions would not make her join forces with Zach. Zach said that he wanted to keep her in the loop since she wanted to take revenge on Ryan, as well. Zach also said that given the way things had played out, they could be useful to each other. Annie told Zach that he could be useful by zipping up her dress. Scott walked in on Zach doing as asked, and Zach left abruptly so that Annie would have to explain what happened on her own.
Scott demanded to know what had gone on between Annie and Zach, and Annie told Scott not to worry. Scott thought that Zach was pulling a number on Annie but Annie assured Scott that she could handle things. She shared the news about Spike and said that because Zach was known for getting things done, she might have a way to get Emma back from Ryan.
Amanda, Jake, and David met with their respective lawyers at Wildwind. David confirmed that he would not press charges against anyone involved in the kidnapping of his son, and in exchange, David would assume full custody. Amanda noted that she would move into David's residence to be close to her son, and both lawyers agreed that it was the best decision for everyone. David looked over at Jake and decided to drive home the point that Jake had no connection to David's son.
A short time later, the social worker showed up with Trevor in tow, and Amanda was delighted to reunite with her son. Jake was pleased, as well, but the joy was tempered by the situation. David allowed a few loving moments and then demanded that Jake leave. Amanda protested, but Jake assured her that he would see her soon. Jake started to leave, but before he got too far, David told Jake that he should be happy that Amanda and the baby were back together.
Zach returned home and asked Ryan and Erica if they had found any incriminating evidence in the house. Ryan maintained his neutral position and started to exit the house. Zach said that since Ryan had his son, there was no reason for Ryan to return. Erica spoke up, but before she could say anything of substance, Zach said that Erica would be the next to be kicked out.
Marissa showed up at the Martin house and ran into Krystal outside. Marissa told Krystal that while everyone was still standing at Wildwind, she was amazed that Amanda had actually moved herself and her son into the house. Krystal said that David got what he wanted, but Marissa said that Amanda wouldn't crumble under David's rule. Marissa was dismayed that she hadn't been able to help, and said that she couldn't go back. Across town, Amanda cuddled her son in the living room of Wildwind. When David walked up and gently touched his son's head, Amanda demanded that David stay away from her and her son.
Liza found Jake drowning his sorrows at ConFusion and tried to commiserate. She thought that Jake had thoughts of being a parent on his mind, but Jake told her that he was consumed with thoughts of pulling the trigger the next time he got a chance to aim a gun at David.
Annie decided to give Scott a sneak preview of her wedding gown, and Scott was duly impressed. However, when Adam wandered into the living room and was equally appreciative, Annie was horrified. She asserted that the wedding was ruined, and ran out of the room.
Outside of the Slater house, Ryan defended Erica against Zach's words and tone, and while grateful, Erica assured Ryan that she was okay. Upstairs, Kendall confronted Zach about her mother's suspicions. It was the last thing he wanted to do, but Zach defended himself again. Kendall apologized and said that she continued to act out because she felt alone. She thanked Zach for all he did for her, and said that she would be lost without him.
