Grant Aleksander (Phillip Spaulding), Bradley Cole (Richard Winslow), Robert Newman (Josh Lewis) and Paul Anthony Stewart (Danny Santos) have all once again received Lead Actor nominations. Among the ladies, Beth Ehlers (Harley Cooper) and Kim Zimmer (Reva Zimmer) made return trips to the Lead Actress field this year. The two new names are those of Nancy St. Alban (Michelle Bauer) and Crystal Chappell (Olivia Spencer). This marked the first Dankies nominations for both St. Alban and Chappell. St. Alban's predecessor in the role of Michelle, Joie Lenz, was nominated in the Lead Actress field last year.
St. Alban and Chappell, however, picked up additional nominations this year. Both actresses were nominated in the Most Attractive Female Performer categories and both of their characters were nominated in the Least Favorite Character category. Finally, both women, as well as all of the Lead and Supporting Actor and Actress nominees, received nods in the Outstanding Overall Performer category.
Last year's big winner, Stewart, continued his dominance in the nominations. In addition to the aforementioned Lead Actor category and the obligatory Overall Performer nod, Stewart was also nominated for Most Attractive Male Performer and Danny Santos earned a nod as the Favorite Character. This year, however, another of GL's leading men has posed a bit of a challenge to Stewart's win streak.
Newcomer Ricky Paull Goldin (Gus Aitoro) racked up six nominations. Goldin was nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor, Most Attractive Male Performer, Outstanding Newcomer and Overall Performer fields. In addition, Gus Aitoro earned nods as Favorite and Least Favorite Character. Perhaps that proves the old mantra "you love 'em or you hate 'em."
Continuing in that vain, two storylines dominated the Favorite and Least Favorite Storyline nominations. The one that had the most people talking was the saga we dubbed "All This Time," a tale of Reva's travels through time. As hinted to, the plot earned nominations in both categories as did Danny and Michelle's troubles with the mob.
Laura Bell Bundy (Marah Lewis), whose exit this falls drew the ire of some fans, was well accounted for in this year's nominations. Bundy earned two nominations, one for Outstanding Younger Performer and another for Most Missed Performer. In the latter category, Bundy will face three other former GL stars that many fans have expressed regrets about seeing let go. The other nominees are Patti D'Arbanville (Selena Davis), Mark Dobies (Noah Chase) and Brittany Snow (Susan Lemay).
And also from the gone but not forgotten file, Beth Raines' watery farewell earned nominations as the Most Memorable and Worst Moment of the year.
